Chapter 12: (Returning to Yourself After Years of Losing Pieces Along the Way)
Life has a way of pulling you in different directions until you realize you have drifted far from the person you once knew. Responsibilities accumulate. Expectations multiply. You adjust, adapt, perform, give, sacrifice, and one day you look in the mirror and wonder where you went. Returning to yourself is one of the most sacred journeys a person can take.
It requires honesty, patience, and compassion for the parts of you that disappeared trying to keep life together. This journey begins with acknowledgement. Acknowledging the moments you compromised your truth to keep peace. Acknowledging the dreams you silenced to survive. Acknowledging the exhaustion you normalized because rest felt like guilt.
Slowly, you begin gathering the pieces. The part of you that loved beauty. The part of you that asked deep questions. The part of you that believed in possibility. The part of you that felt joy without explanation. The part of you that once walked boldly into rooms without shrinking your light.
Returning to yourself does not happen overnight. It happens in layers. It happens through rediscovering what you love, releasing what you tolerated, and reclaiming what you abandoned.
As you return, you realize something powerful. You are not who you were before life stretched you. You are not who you became while trying to survive. You are something new. Something integrated. Something whole.
You are finally becoming the person you needed all along.
