🚨 Public Service Announcement from your friendly neighborhood massage therapist... 🚨

When you get injured like I did this week, the answer is NOT to "push through it."

I know. I know. We're all guilty of it.

But when your body throws up a giant red warning flag, the best thing you can do is be QUICK, CONSISTENT, and INTENTIONAL about your recovery.

The first day was BRUTAL. πŸ˜…

One innocent little yawn and suddenly my neck locked up, my shoulder decided to join the rebellion, and I could barely move. Lightning bolts of pain were shooting through my neck and arm, and my body was making it very clear that it was done negotiating.

Thankfully, I got myself over to Fairway Chiropractic and Dr. Ross got right to work. Two full-spine adjustments on day one, another adjustment the next day, lots of ice, lots of massage, lots of breathing, and LOTS of slow stretching.

Shoutout to my trusty vibrating massage ball too. πŸ˜‚ Sometimes being a massage therapist means becoming your own patient when nobody else is available!

The second morning was much better, but wow... I was stiff as a board.

One thing I learned? My neck is actually TOO straight. Perfectly straight. Which sounds like it should be a good thing... but apparently not. πŸ˜…

I've been using cervical supports whenever I rest to help rebuild the natural curve in my neck, and it made me realize something important:

πŸ‘‰ Every chair you sit in is either helping you or hurting you.
πŸ‘‰ Every hour of poor posture adds up.
πŸ‘‰ Every little daily habit matters more than we think.

I didn't realize how many of my favorite chairs were constantly pushing my head forward and contributing to the problem.

So here's my unsolicited wisdom for the day:

Take a look at how you're treating your body on a regular basis. Check your posture. Evaluate your workstation. Pay attention to how you sit while scrolling your phone. Prevention is always easier than recovery.

I'm incredibly blessed that I was able to step back, focus on healing, and get the care I needed right away. Not everyone has the ability to recover as quickly, which makes prevention even more important.

The good news?

✨ I'M BACK! ✨

A little wiser.
A little more humble.
A little more aware of my own posture.

And ready to get back to doing what I love most: helping others feel their best.

Thank you to everyone who checked on me, sent kind messages, and gave me the space to heal. You all are truly wonderful people, and I am honored to be of service to this community.

Now let's get back to healing! πŸ’ͺ❀️

πŸ˜… Getting older is the pits...

I worked HARD all weekend. Gardening, projects, lifting, moving, creating... and honestly? I felt great!
Then this morning I did something incredibly dangerous...

I yawned. πŸ˜‘

BAM.

That's all it took.
Suddenly my neck locked up, and ripping lightning-bolt pain shot through my neck, shoulder, and down my right arm. I could barely move. As a massage therapist, my first instinct was to slow down and start working on myself. I pulled out my tools, tried different positioning, stretching, massage techniques, and everything I could think of.
Nothing was touching it.
It's humbling when your own body reminds you that sometimes you need help too.
As soon as they opened, I headed over to the chiropractic clinic to see Dr. Ross. They normally prefer appointments, but they got me in right away and immediately started helping me.
Turns out my back and neck had locked up pretty badly. The adjustment helped tremendously, but I'm not quite out of the woods yet. I'll be heading back for another visit today and following strict orders: ice and rest. πŸ˜”
I also had to do something I almost never doβ€”I called in and rescheduled my clients for today. If you know me, you know I rarely miss work unless it's truly necessary.

To all of my amazing clients: thank you for being so understanding, supportive, and kind. Your patience means more than you know. ❀️

And a huge thank you to Dr. Ross and the team at Fairway Chiropractic for taking care of me when I needed it most.
For now, I'm officially out of commission... but I'll be back. πŸ’ͺ✨
