The goal of this program is to help parents learn techniques to reduce their children's challenging behaviors in the home.

In order to be eligible for this program, you must be (a) a parent or caregiver of a child with autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 3 and 12 years, and (b) a current resident of the Capital Region. Your family must also be eligible for OPWDD and Family Support Services.

This 11-week program includes weekly 60-minute sessions occurring Fridays from 11:00 am to 12.

Registration is OPEN for Healthy Living: Pathways to Positive Change

Build confidence and take control of your health! Six weekly sessions designed for anyone with a chronic health problem, as well as family members, friends, and caretakers

When: Every Wednesday from September 16 to October 21, 9:30AM – 12NOON
Where: Cossayuna Fire Department - 21 Bunker Hill Rd, Greenwich

In partnership with Get Healthy North Country and Comfort Food Community, Washington County Public Health is pleased to offer a FREE 6-week Healthy Living: Pathways to Positive Change Workshop for Washington County residents. The workshop is recommended for adults with at least one chronic health condition and/or their family members, friends, or caretakers. Chronic diseases may include but are not limited to arthritis, lung problems/diseases, cancer, stroke, hypertension, anxiety/depression, obesity, heart disease, and tobacco-use-related conditions.

The workshop, formerly known as the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, is free to attend and each participant will receive supportive program materials including Self-Management Toolkit Resources, Action Planning Resources, a Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions book and more! Washington County Public Health is also pleased to partner with Comfort Food Community, who will provide participants with weekly incentives throughout the workshop series.

The peer leaders will utilize various interactive activities to help participants acquire new skills in self-managing their chronic diseases. Session topics include:

Coping with fatigue, pain, and stress
Exercise for flexibility and endurance & Nutrition and healthy habits
Communicating with family and healthcare providers
Action-planning, problem solving, and decision making to manage daily challenges
Setting realistic goals and tracking progress
Building confidence to make informed health choices
This interactive program aims to increase confidence, physical and psychological well-being, and knowledge of chronic disease self-management strategies. This program does not, however, replace any existing programs or treatments.

Registration is now OPEN for the next Rabies Drive Though Clinic Saturday, September 12 at the Fort Ann Highway Garage, 11249 NY 149, Fort Ann, NY 12827. Registration is required. The registration link will close on Wednesday, September 9th (or sooner if appointments are filled before then.)

To schedule appointments, you will need to go to the Public Health Rabies Clinic webpage during the specified registration dates for each clinic location. When Registration opens, the red "Rabies Clinic Registration" button will link to the registration form. NOTE: If you wish to bring more than 4 pets to the clinic, please call our office at 518-746-2400 before registering.

New York State law requires all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies. All Dogs and Cats should be vaccinated against rabies at 3 months of age (at least 12 Weeks old). They should be re-vaccinated one year later, and then every three years thereafter. (Pregnant female cats will not be vaccinated.) Ferrets should be vaccinated against rabies at 3 months of age and re-vaccinated yearly thereafter. Also, all animal bites should be reported to Public Health, regardless of vaccination status.

Keep the following in mind if you attend the Rabies Clinics:
*Clinic is By Appointment ONLY.
*Do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
*Have pets relieve themselves before arriving to clinic.
*Proof of your pet's previous rabies vaccination will need to be provided prior to clinic to be marked as a 3 year certificate.
*Leave pets in your vehicle until it is their turn for vaccination.
*All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier.
*All Clinics are Free and open to the public. (Donations are accepted and appreciated.)
