In honor of National Nurse’s Week, we’re highlighting some of the amazing nurses here at Interim!

🩺Today’s staff spotlight is Laura, RN!🩺

Laura has such a gentle disposition, always having the upmost patience with anything thrown her way. She has a huge heart for those she cares for, human and animal alike! She’s dedicated to advocating for patients and being the calm in their life, no matter what is being thrown their way. She’s a fantastic nurse and we’re so proud to have her on the team!

1) What inspired you to become a nurse?

-In my younger days back in elementary school, I did some babysitting for a neighbor of mine for many years after that and the kids mom was a nurse. We would go visit her at the care center she worked at as a nurse, and it sparked my interest and ever since then I guess I just decided that’s what I was going to do and I did it!

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

-Being able to help patients ultimately achieve their goals so that they are able to safely stay in their own home as long as they are able to and can continue caring for themselves after we’re done. When patients are dedicated to bettering themselves, it’s always an honor to be able to educate them on all the important things to do and then to see the progress they make as a result of all of our teaching, hard work and dedication to them. Knowing (and then seeing) that I truly do make a difference in my patients’ lives, is exactly what I strive for as a nurse and in home care, we actually often do get to see the outcome of all of our efforts and that is by far the most rewarding part of being a home care nurse. I really do truly love my job!

3) What makes home health nursing different than other nursing settings?

-Since we go in to their homes to care for them, there's a whole different level of trust that is established between us and our patients, and you're able to form a closer relationship with them that's just so much different then any other nursing setting.

4) What is one think you always keep in your car or bag

-Sour patch kids (the extra sour ones)-my go to candy!

5) What is your go-to song to listen to during those drives between patients?

-I don't have any particular go-to song, but I’m always jamming to tunes while I’m driving-anything from country, to old school rap and literally everything in between!

In honor of National Nurse’s Week, we’re highlighting some of the amazing nurses here at Interim!

🩺Today’s staff spotlight is our Assistant Director of Nursing, Michelle, RN!🩺

Michelle has a long history with Interim, from being a field nurse and case manager in our Eau Claire office to now being in leadership in our Hudson office. She shows up for staff the same way she did with patients: with kindness, compassion, expertise and empathy. She’s got a huge helpful heart and always strives to go above and beyond. We’re incredibly thankful to have Michelle on our team!

1) What inspired you to become a nurse?

Caregiving was always my mainstay in life and becoming a nurse was a way to expand my abilities within this.

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to make a positive impact in a patient's life , watch them heal and progress. A close second is the relationships with coworkers becoming a family extension.

3) What makes home health nursing different than other nursing settings?

Home health nursing requires autonomy, "MacGyvering" (critical thinking) and a skill to figure out what the GPS actually should be telling you. It's beautiful to be able to provide patients with the skilled care they need, in the place that offers them the bonus of their support systems and comfort they deserve to enjoy.

4) What is one think you always keep in your car or bag?

Absolute musts for the car -Hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes, and caffeine

5) What is your go-to song to listen to during those drives between patients?

Go to car listening Usually podcasts more often than music

🩺Today’s staff spotlight is Christina, RN!🩺

Christina has been with us for almost a year and is in her final stretch to become an NP! She treats each patient individually, advocates for their best interest and needs, and has such a caring heart! We’re so thankful to have Christina as a part of our team!!

1) What inspired you to become a nurse?

I always knew as a young child I wanting to be in the helping profession but wasn't sure what that entailed or how I wanted to help others. Not having a clue I went down the road of preparing and working in social work and found it was not for me. I was venting to my aunt ,who happened to be a nurse, about how the career path I chose was not what I imagined and felt like I was not making a difference in others' lives like I was inspired to do. She mentioned nursing to me and that is what started my journey in the nursing profession. First, I started as a nursing assistant to make sure that nursing was the answer and there was no going back. I couldn't express the love I have for caring my job and I feel honored to care for individuals in the way that I do as a nurse.

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Being able to meet individuals in their most vulnerable moments by helping/teaching/encouraging/ and guiding them in the right direction to improve their overall quality of life. It is so gratifying to see someone at their worst grow and heal , whether it is a wound completely healed, infection resolved, mobility improved, or overall feeling better or accepting their condition it is so rewarding to be able to take part in the journey.

3) What makes home health nursing different than other nursing settings?

Being able to see where individuals come from and what barriers they face in their own environment.

4) What is one think you always keep in your car or bag?

Gloves and hand sanitizer

5) What is your go-to song to listen to during those drives between patients?

That is a hard one. I really don't listen to anything ,but if I did I would probably listen to something from Elton John probably "im still standing"

🩺Today’s staff spotlight is Jennifer, RN!🩺

Jen has been with Interim for several years now. She was our 2024 Nurse of the Year winner, and has been an exceptional team member. She has a heart of gold and tears every single patient like she would her own family. We are so grateful to have her on our team!

1) What inspired me to be a nurse?

This is a hard one, but when I was a teen, I had lost a baby. The nurses were so good to me, and I just felt that was my calling. I wanted to do what they did.

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I think meeting people where they are at with whatever is going on with them. I have a big heart for people. Also, when you are done with care, they tell you how much you made a difference in their life, is so rewarding. Makes you want to keep coming back to work.

3)What makes home health nursing different than other nursing settings?

You are able to go into people's homes, assisting, educating, and meeting their goal to get better. This job is definitely not for everyone. You literally need to be a jack of all trades. Not many other settings understand this. This can be a very stressful and busy job.

4) What is one thing you always keep in your car or bag?

Three things-gloves, chargers, and pens!

5) What is your go to song to listen to during those drives between patients?

I listen to everything from rap, rock, country, Christian and pod casts. Depends on the mood!!
