Why loose leaf? The tea you buy prepackaged in bags from the store are the "dust and fannings" from broken tea leaves. Basically, the leftovers of the good stuff. This compromises the quality of the tea: the tea dustings have lost most of their essential oils and aroma. When steeped they release more tannins than whole leaf teas, making a more bitter brew. Whole leaf tea brews a full bodied, less bitter yet full flavored cup.
