The Marshall University Physician Assistant Program has just been awarded a 3-year federal grant on training graduate level health professional students such as physician assistant to understand, identify, intervene, and treat patients with substance use disorder upon becoming licensed practitioners. The grant is a nationally competitive award administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration of the Department of Health and Human Services. Students who complete the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS)-Medications for Opioid Use Disorders training will be awarded a stipend in conjunction with this training grant.

Who doesn’t love a good meme!? For the final themed day for the 2026 PA Week, the didactic class decided to embody their favorite memes. Apparentlyyyyy, they went all out. The best part? Well, according to Prison Mike, it was the dementors, but for everyone else, it was the appreciation the students gave back to the PA faculty with doughnuts, a card, and balloons. Thank you for the class of 2028 for all their profession spirit this week and from the Marshall PA Program, Happy PA Week!

The PA Week themes are getting more creative and colorful! Yesterday, while the clinical students were delivering doughnuts, the didactic students were showing off their costume skills with “Buzzword Day” where we had everything from scotch-tape test for pinworms, onion-skin bone for Ewing Sarcoma, and even melasma (“the mask of pregnancy”). Today, the students went a hair overboard with Wig Day, which hopefully helped them keep all the knowledge they needed inside their heads for their Clinical Medicine exam. Keep up the strong work and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
