Not all PT is the same. Day 1 you should leave with a plan and you should never feel like your treatment is the same as your home exercise.

Here’s the way we do PT at BTC.

Visit 1 you leave with a CLEAR PLAN knowing what is contributing to your pain and what we’re going to do about it.

Every treatment is designed around your needs, your goals, and the things that matter most to you. We start each session with HANDS ON techniques to improve motion & relieve pain.

Then we guide you through MOVEMENT TRAINING designed to carry over into your everyday life. This builds lasting change & resilience to improve the way your body performs.

We are your musculoskeletal experts. When your back goes out or a joint or muscle issue interrupts your life, TRY PT FIRST. It saves you time money and energy by addressing the problem from the start.

And did you know? In Alabama, you can see a physical therapist directly—you don’t need a physician referral to get started.

Tendonitis doesn’t mean you need to stop moving.

The goal is to find the right amount of movement and load to help the tendon calm down while building back its capacity.

Treatment needs to:
→ Reduce pain & irritability
→ Improve mobility
→ Progress the load at that area & areas of surrounding weakness.

This is a starting point and will need consistent progression to help build capacity to do more without symptoms.

Total rest isn’t usually the answer. Start with what you CAN do—and build from there.

You stayed for Pilates because you realized moving better and getting stronger goes beyond rehab.

1:1 and Small Group Pilates gives us the space to be intentional. It’s about fine-tuning movement, building strength, improving control, and connecting the dots between how you move and what you want to do.

Rehab gets you moving again.
Intentional movement helps you keep moving well. 💪

Let’s talk about mobility balls for a minute.

Using a lacrosse ball or foam roller can absolutely feel good and give you some temporary relief.

But let’s be clear about what it’s actually doing. 🤓

It’s not necessarily fixing the problem. It may be helping to temporarily change how your nervous system is sensing that irritated area—kind of like rubbing your leg after you accidentally bump it on the corner of a table. 🧠
That can be a helpful tool. 🛠️

I especially love using this exercise for upper back tightness—pairing some mobility work with an active arm raise. You’re not just trying to loosen the area; you’re also teaching your body to move through that new range.

But if you have to keep rolling, rubbing, or digging into the same spot just to feel better… you probably haven’t addressed the reason it keeps getting irritated.
Use the ball as a tool—not the solution.

The goal is to create mobility AND learn how to use it.

A healthy shoulder isn’t just about mobility—it’s about control. 🎯

The shoulder has a lot of moving parts, and using a light band around your wrists as you reach is a great way to help you feel how they work together.

This exercise helps you connect the shoulder blade to the ribcage, retrain scapular control, and build the coordination you need to move well—and work on the base that helps you move heavier things overhead. 💪

Your shoulder might not be the problem. 👀

One of our biggest takeaways from the shoulder workshop: SHOULDER PAIN ISN'T ALWAYS THE SHOULDER'S FAULT!

Your shoulder may be weak or stiff and need attention—but sometimes something somewhere else is putting extra strain on it.

Think about:
→ Is your upper back moving well?
→ Can you control your shoulder blade?
→ Are you compensating somewhere else when you move?

If you’ve been dealing with a nagging shoulder issue that just won’t go away, it is time to stop chasing the pain and figure out what’s actually driving it.
Because sometimes the best way to fix the shoulder…
is to look beyond the shoulder.

It’s not always pain that tells you there’s a shoulder problem. 👀
Sometimes it shows up as:
• One elbow flaring out more than the other
• One side feeling harder to strengthen
• Neck tension that won’t go away
• Difficulty reaching overhead without compensating

If we only treat the symptom—not the underlying cause—the problem often keeps coming back.
The way your shoulder moves is heavily influenced by how your shoulder blade glides on your rib cage. When that relationship isn’t working well, the body finds another way to get the job done... and that’s when compensation, pain, or performance issues can creep in.
The goal isn’t just to get out of pain. It’s to restore the way your body was designed to move so you can move well, lift confidently, and keep doing what you love. 💪
