Studies show that more than 80 percentof eating disorder patients report barriers to care due to insurance at some point during their illness, that up to half of patients leave treatment before achieving their treatment goals, and that patients with private insurance are discharged earlier than those with public insurance.

Insurers are using loopholes in a mental health parity law to get around paying for expensive in-patient care.

Serving sizes feel official… but they’re not as objective as they seem.

They’re largely based on what people typically eat—not what your body specifically needs. And they can be influenced by things like labeling rules, marketing, and how a product is positioned.

Serving sizes can be a reference point—�but they were never meant to be a limit.

💊 Not all supplement recommendations are as neutral as they seem. 💊

If the person recommending it is also selling it, it’s worth asking a few more questions:
• Is this actually necessary for me?
• Is there evidence to support it?
• Is it significantly more expensive here, or can I buy it elsewhere?
• Would they still recommend this if they didn’t profit from it?

At our practice, we don’t sell supplements—and that’s intentional. We want our recommendations to stay rooted in your needs, not a sales goal. When supplements are appropriate, we point you toward third-party tested options (like USP-verified brands) you can find at major retailers.

A good rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You deserve transparent, evidence-based care. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Electrolytes are important, but you don’t need them in your water bottle 24/7.

Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium help regulate fluid balance, muscle contraction, and nerve function.

You may benefit from extra electrolytes if you’re:
💧Sweating heavily (long workouts, hot weather)
💧Recovering from illness
💧Training intensely for endurance events
💧Have specific dietary or medical needs (eating disorders, POTS, GI disorders, etc.)

But for most people doing normal daily activity, food and regular fluids provide what your body needs!

Hydration should match your activity level - not marketing trends!

Some days in recovery can feel really heavy — isolating, overwhelming, or just plain hard. If that’s where you are right now, this is your reminder: you are not alone 🤍

We created this reminder for you.

In our office, we have a bulletin board that says “take some encouragement, leave some encouragement.” It’s filled with small notes, doodles, and reminders from people who get it — people who have been in the thick of it, who are still showing up, and who want you to keep going.

This idea was inspired by a client from my (Chelsea) very first year in practice, who quietly left encouraging post-it notes on the bathroom mirror for others to find. That small act of care has stayed with me ever since — and this is one way we’re continuing it forward.

If you’re struggling today, let these reminders hold you:
✨ You’re allowed to take this one moment at a time
✨ Your body deserves care, even on the hard days
✨ Recovery doesn’t have to be perfect to be real
