Policy & Procedures: This message is to make it crystal clear that if you have any skin issues with broken skin, you need to cancel your appointment. If it's passed the 24hr cancelation time then please send me a TEXT & let me know your situation.
We want to keep the spa as sterile as an environment as possible. For the safety & peace of mind for both our clients as well as our staff.
It is a contradiction to directly massage over active insect bites. So flea, chiggers, mosquitoes, spiders, just to name a few. This also goes for stings from a bee but in the spread of the venom, forcing it deeper into the tissue. Obviously Ticks are on the rise with their bites causing even worse issues. Scabies is highly contagious & caused by a microscopic mite. So even if you are not sure of the culprit, JUST CANCEL. Hives, which are inflammatory & often an allergic response. The enhanced circulation could trigger the release of more histamines only worsening the issue.
Spread of Infection: Massaging stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation. If you have open wounds, scabs, or a localized bacterial infection from scratching, this circulation can inadvertently spread the infection to surrounding tissues or even your broader system.
Vigorous rubbing can tear vulnerable, inflamed skin, opening the door for bacteria.
If you have POISON IVY, OAK or SUMAC rashes ANYWHERE on the body, cancel the appointment. It's not something that should just be worked around, weeping or dried.
More people are also having issues with lesions on their bodies & the doctors don't seem to know the cause. When I have multiple people telling me the same thing this is cause to pause. Personally, I believe that it's a possible form of radiation poisoning causing the lesions & since that's not a typical test, the factor isn't removed from the environment or subject & the healing is taking forever. I'm not a doctor, I'm your massage therapist & that's my opinion. My advice, figure out the source & don't take, we don't know what it is for an answer. If the doctors treatments or medication are not working & you still have open wounds, you need to follow up with a Doctor because then you run the risk of Staph infection or MRSA. Your skin is your first defense against infection & you need to be proactive about your care.
I say all this because I do care for my clients. I want you to be aware of these contradictions. We are more than willing to rebook you at a later date when you are completely healed. We want your session to be one that's safe & beneficial.
So please be respectful. This isn't to create paranoia but to create better habits for all involved. None of these things are going away, we need to be smart about prevention.
Please be sure to arrive with a clean body & with clean clothes. Especially if you've been weed-eating & dusted off your jeans, then came & set down in a chair. Those oils from one of these plants are on your pants. Then the next person wearing shorts who sits in the seat now has those oils directly on their skin. Just be thoughtful & manage your time wisely. So we can cut down on this cross-transfer from happening. Many people are extremely allergic to it & require medical treatment.
I found a less graphic pic but this is for the Post Surgical. NO DRAINAGE TUBES OR STITCHES. The tubes & stitches need to be removed prior to having Lymphatic Drainage Massage. We will try to do our best to accommodate you during this time because people heal at different rates. Just please allow us time to fill your appointment if there is a delay. You need to notify us ahead of time. I do not EXPRESS the Lymphatic Fluid, it is gently moved to the Lymph Nodes for your body to do the rest.
Our shoe policy is for EVERYONE that enters. Not just for massage therapy. Please don't wear your shoes passed the reception desk. The only exception to the rule is if you have prosthetics or are handicapped. You do have choices if you don't want to wear the spa shoes. You can go in your socks, not barefoot. The spa shoes are disinfected after each use & placed back into the cube. The black tray is for used shoes & your shoes while at the spa.
