Board member Roger Bumann and Outreach Coordinator Danika Hinkeldey spent a wonderful afternoon at Golden Horizons Assisted Living, sharing how we support our members and our community.

Our Outreach Coordinator, Danika Hinkeldey, presented about the work we do locally—member benefits, partnerships with local businesses, and the many ways we invest in Ida County. She also shared about her role in the classroom, teaching students how agriculture impacts their daily lives through ag education.

Residents even had the chance to build pig barns, ask questions, and learn more about our member‑driven organization.

From local involvement to statewide opportunities like scholarships, Spokesman publications,membership discounts, partnerships with food pantries, FFA chapters and much more we’re proud to serve Ida County at every level.

This Memorial Day, Ida County Farm Bureau encourages everyone to take a moment to reflect on the courage, service, and dedication of those who gave their lives for our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Ida County Farm Bureau is a proud partner of the 32nd Annual Wh**ey Thompson Hike‑Bike‑A‑Thon, donating the cups each year that keep riders and volunteers refreshed with clean Culligan water along the route. 💧🥤🚴‍♂️

It’s one of our favorite ways to lift up a tradition that brings our community together and invests in local students.

This year, 577 students hit the trail and helped raise a record‑breaking $88,421.81 for OABCIG Dollars for Scholars scholarships — an incredible boost for their futures. 💶🖤

Thank you to everyone who rode, volunteered, donated, and supported this meaningful event. Community spirit like this keeps us strong. 🌟🖤💜

Century, Heritage Farm Awards...Apply Now

As Iowa celebrates America's 250th birthday, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naag is inviting eligible Iowa Farm owners to apply for Century or Heritage Farm recognition.

The Iowa Dept of Agriculture in conjunction with the Iowa farm Bureau established the Century Farm and Heritage Farm Programs to honor farm families for their dedication in maintaining agriculture as a viable industry in Iowa and providing a way of life for future generations.

To be recognized in 2026, completed applications must be post marked or received by the Department by June 1, 2026.

Applications are available on the Iowa Department of Agriculture website or by calling the Ida County Farm Bureau office at 712-364-2931

Century and Heritage Farm families represent that enduring commitment to freedom, hard work, and stewardship of the land.

The Ida County Farm Bureau has announced the recipients of its annual scholarships, recognizing three area students for their academic achievement, leadership, and connection to agriculture.

This year’s scholarship winners are Grace Kenkel of Storm Lake, Quinton Wittrock of Holstein, and Jordan Kluver of Galva.

Grace Kenkel, a student from Storm Lake, was selected for her strong commitment to her education and her involvement in school and community activities. Kenkel represents the dedication to learning and service that the Ida County Farm Bureau seeks to encourage through its scholarship program.

Quinton Wittrock of Holstein is another recipient of the Ida County Farm Bureau scholarship. Wittrock has demonstrated responsibility and initiative throughout his high school career and has shown an interest in the agricultural industry and rural communities.

Jordan Kluver, a student from Galva, also received a scholarship this year. Kluver’s work ethic and engagement in school and community activities made him a strong candidate for the award.

The Ida County Farm Bureau scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors who plan to further their education and who reflect the values of agriculture, leadership, and community involvement. The program is designed to support local students as they pursue post secondary education and to invest in the future of Ida County and Iowa agriculture.

The Ida County Farm Bureau congratulates Grace Kenkel, Quinton Wittrock, and Jordan Kluver and wishes them continued success as they take the next steps in their educational journeys.
