In case you are waiting on the edge of your seat for my exciting journey with my walking goal. Here is week 1 updates!
It went well, but I am also so grateful it’s the weekend. I missed my kids, I pushed myself, and I’m learning how to embrace changes in my life (even if some of that is limitations I didn’t have this much a year ago).

The goal is walking with my younger kiddos to school. It’s been a bit rough with unexpected changes and stress. However, I managed through the week and even made it outside for a good walk 5 days in a row! Now hoping to avoid a crash, because suffering from chronic illness is it’s own thing.

I know my goal is worth it. I also know I am worth resting (even if that’s been a hard earned knowledge). 🙏 🤞 ❤️

Summer is almost over, and my digestion felt like it needed some extra love. So, I decided to do Kitchari. I’ve done a few Kitchari cleanses. Some were 1 day, 5 days or even 10 days.
This time I felt like I should do 7 days. You can mix it up with vegetables or lentils. The ghee and kitchari spices are great for healing the gut, plus I use my own homemade bone broth (more gut healing).
* I also followed this cleanse with a Hulda Clark liver cleanse. (If you’re really into clearing junk in your liver too)

Pacing isn’t “keep going.” It’s knowing when NOT to keep going.

Walk my kids to and from school without complete crashes. Is my goal a lot, yes? But maybe it’s achievable? What tips do you have?
Making it outside for a walk today (after it’s been too smoky for awhile now) is my achievement today.

Walking indoors while the air outside is so smoky, has it’s perks. Curious kids and curious kitten.

Been working on being able to go for walks again (thanks, exercise intolerance 😖), but then my Dad died, we had family reunions and events, plus a week of youth camp. So, I missed a lot of days, or well, weeks.
It’s hard to learn pacing myself, as it is (hEDS and suspected POTS), but for over a week now the air quality has been quite poor (lots of wildfire smoke). So, I pulled out my walking pad and did a few short walks on it this week.
I really miss my body letting me exercise, and actually feeling better when I do exercise regularly. Instead I get to guess if what I do is going to feel good later, or not.

Put a finger down, POTS addition. Keeping in mind, I suffer from hEDS and only suspected POTS/ Dysautonomia. No official diagnosis, but then I haven’t fainted 🤷‍♀️

Had a long drive recently, and we split it into two days so that we could rest. (We also did two days on the way home). I use compression socks a bit at home these days, so took them with me, but also tried using a band around my legs for extra support. I avoided foods that I know I struggle with (most of the time), brought extra electrolytes, and brought my neck massage pillow. Wasn’t consistent with that one though, and had a lot of stress and emotions to process.
So, for others with hEDS and suspected POTS/dysautonomia, how do you feel when traveling? What are your favorite hacks? How is recovery after the trip?
I also noticed a lot of people wearing compression socks. Maybe it’s just cause I was wearing them, but is this a fad right now?
I feel a difference with compression and definitely noticed the days I didn’t wear them while we were there. I had a few rough times (like after hiking without the socks - dang it!), but overall didn’t majorly crash until I was all the way back home.
