What if loving others more fully begins with understanding ourselves more deeply?

Sometimes we’re taught to push feelings aside, to be “strong,” move on, or avoid the uncomfortable emotions.

But healing invites us to do something different.

Notice what you’re feeling.
Get curious instead of judgmental.
Give yourself permission to feel without needing to fix everything immediately.
Practice patience and acceptance with yourself.

When we develop the ability to sit with our own emotions with compassion rather than criticism, we create more space to respond to ourselves and others with understanding, patience, and genuine connection.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You simply have to be willing to notice, understand, and meet yourself where you are.

At Insight & Empowerment, we believe healing begins with awareness and that self-compassion is a powerful part of that journey.

Give yourself permission to feel. Your feelings are information, not failures.

🌿 Self-compassion isn’t letting yourself off the hook, it’s learning to stop being cruel to yourself while you grow.

So often, we offer patience, understanding, and grace to the people we love… yet hold ourselves to impossible standards.

We replay our mistakes.
We criticize our choices.
We focus on where we fell short.
We convince ourselves we should have known better.

But what if you spoke to yourself the way you would speak to someone you deeply care about?

You are allowed to make mistakes.
You are allowed to have hard days.
You are allowed to be a work in progress.
You are allowed to be human. ❤️

You don’t have to be perfect to be worthy of compassion.

Sometimes healing begins when we stop asking, “What is wrong with me?” and start asking, “What happened, and what do I need right now?”

At Insight & Empowerment, we believe meaningful healing includes learning to understand yourself with curiosity rather than judgment and making space for the person you are becoming. 🌱

Give yourself the same grace you so freely give to others. You deserve it, too.

CLINICIAN/THERAPIST, LPC
Iris Bowler-Spohnholz

I believe you know yourself better than anyone, and therapy should be a place where we can use that knowledge to create meaningful change. I focus on creating a safe and accepting space where you can be yourself, as I believe feeling comfortable and understood is essential for exploration and growth. I operate within a strength-based and holistic approach, and together we can work to create a plan that makes sense for you.

I work with individuals with a range of identities and backgrounds, with an emphasis on neurodivergence and teenagers. I take a direct and honest approach to therapy, while also integrating humor as therapy doesn’t always have to be heavy. My goal is to support you while also helping you move toward meaningful change in a way that feels authentic to you.

Montana State University, Bachelor’s in Psychology (2022)
Idaho State University, Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2026)

Offer from a pure heart… then release the outcome. 🤍

Sometimes we do everything we can.

We show up.
We love deeply.
We give grace.
We speak our truth.
We offer what we can from a genuine place.

And then comes the hardest part: letting go of the need to control what happens next.

Releasing the outcome doesn’t mean you stop caring. It means you trust that you don’t have to carry responsibility for how someone else responds, what they choose, or how everything unfolds.

Your part is to act with intention.
Your part is to give from a place of authenticity.
Your part is to honor your values.

Then… breathe, open your hands, and release.

You can have a pure heart without carrying the weight of the outcome.

Choosing Yourself Is Not Selfish.

Sometimes choosing yourself means setting a boundary.

Sometimes it means saying no without explaining yourself.

Sometimes it means stepping away from relationships, expectations, or patterns that no longer feel healthy.

And sometimes… it simply means giving yourself the same compassion, patience, and understanding that you so freely give to everyone else.

Choosing yourself doesn’t mean you don’t love others.

It means you are learning that your needs matter, too.

Healthy relationships are not built on self-abandonment. They are built when two people can show up authentically, with boundaries, respect, compassion, and room to grow.

You are allowed to protect your peace.
You are allowed to honor your needs.
You are allowed to grow beyond what once felt familiar.

Choosing yourself is not guilt-worthy. It is an act of self-respect.

At Insight & Empowerment, we believe healing often begins when we ask ourself “What do I need to feel safe, whole, and connected to myself?”

Choose yourself.
Give yourself permission to grow.
Come home to who you are.

You are not lost. You are becoming.

Sometimes healing isn’t about discovering a completely different version of yourself.

It’s about gently peeling back the layers, the expectations, survival patterns, fear, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and stories you had to carry and reconnecting with the person who was always there underneath.

The parts of you that learned to survive deserve compassion.

The parts of you that are learning to feel safe deserve patience.

And the authentic you deserves space to be seen.

Healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new.

Sometimes, it means finally giving yourself permission to become more fully who you’ve always been.

You don’t have to rush the process.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You are allowed to grow at your own pace.

At Insight & Empowerment, we believe healing is about creating space to understand yourself, honor your experiences, and move forward with greater self-compassion and empowerment.

There is more to you than what happened to you. And there is so much of you still waiting to be discovered.

Who you had to become to survive is not who you are destined to remain.

Many of the behaviors we carry today were once acts of protection. They helped us survive experiences that asked more of us than anyone should have to endure. Those survival responses deserve compassion, not shame.

Healing isn’t about judging the person you were. It’s about honoring the strength that got you here while gently creating space for the person you’re becoming.

Just as a caterpillar is not separate from the butterfly, your past is not something to erase, it is part of your story, your resilience, and your transformation.

At Insight & Empowerment, we believe healing happens when we replace self-judgment with self-compassion and create a safe place for growth. You don’t have to navigate that journey alone.

❤️ Wherever you are in your healing, know this: your story matters, your resilience is real, and transformation is possible.
