For more than 50 years, DWI has been shaped by the same grassroots spirit reflected in this month’s Idaho Falls Magazine feature, “Neighbor Helping Neighbor.” The article captures the very heart of what built DWI and what continues to move our community forward.
Families like John and Bobbie Griffith, along with other local parents, came together to create opportunity where none existed. They didn’t wait for a system they became the system, building DWI from the ground up so their children and their neighbors’ children could live, work, and play with dignity and belonging.
From statewide service efforts to the partnership between Village Threads and the sewing talents of DWI volunteers, we’ve teamed up to create reusable hygiene kits for girls across the world. These acts of service echo the same belief our founders lived out:
"When people show up for one another, communities grow stronger."
Right here at home, that legacy continues in the everyday moments of connection, dignity, and friendship that happen at DWI.
This is who we’ve always been.
This is who we’re still becoming.
We are honored to be part of the America 250 – Idaho Service Challenge.
