These were pulled from piercings done LOCALLY in our sweet community of Idaho Falls.
Externally threaded is OUTDATED and HORRIBLE for your piercings. These are LOW quality, CHEAP jewlery.
CHEAP jewelery is ALWAYS the poor choice and unfortunately, the piercing community is still so far behind on education and you as consumers suffer from this.
Education is a HUGE part of what I do. And when you hold yourself to a high standard, others will follow, which is my hopes for this area.
You deserve better. Your body deserves better.
Educating yourself also prevents these issues. Our industry is saturated with 3 day courses that pump out very poorly and improperly trained individuals who cause great damage to others, thinking they can do a service that requires a structured apprenticeship over years, not 3 days.
Knowing to choose the right individual to provide you these services, saves a lot of heartache and money down the road.
There are also individuals who have years of experience still using this jewelery. Always ask questions!
Are you a certified piercer? -This one will tell you everything you need to know. Professional body piercers are not "certified" we have done years of an apprenticeship through a mentor. 3 day course piercers become "certified" in THREE days. - stay far away.
Do you use INTERNALLY THREADED? -if they say externally threaded, walk away. Save yourself the headache.
Do you use jewelery approved for and verified by the Association of Professional Piercers?- really, thats a given. No matter how much people say their stuff is hypoallergenic, if it isn't backed by a plethora of people, testing, and an entire association, you're getting low quality. Its simple.
Do you use an FDA approved autoclave and sterilize your jewelery? Have you done spores testing on your autoclave?- its a given! Alcohol DOESN'T STERILIZE JEWELRY. And if they do have one, are they following local requirements and regular spore testing and maintenance?
I've seen too many externally threaded barbells and other pieces in the last week to not say something.
Take care of your little bodies, we only have one in this life. ♡
