Iβve rewritten this a dozen times, because this isnβt just a business updateβ¦ this is something that genuinely hurts.
So Iβm going to be real with you.
Due to direction from the Jackson County Health Department, I have been told that I am no longer allowed to sell my products at the farmers market.
This is not because of any safety concerns, complaints, or issues with my products.
This comes down to how herbal products are regulatedβ¦ and how they are allowed to exist in todayβs system.
I was specifically told that herbal teas, in general, are not allowed to be sold in this setting under their current interpretation of the rules. On top of that, I was told that naming teas things like βSore Throat Teaβ or βCough Teaβ is considered a medical claim, and therefore not permitted.
So something as simple and traditional as calling a tea what people have used it for, for generations⦠is now considered unacceptable.
Let that sink in.
We live in a world where lab-made products can be marketed freely, but plants that have been used for generations have to be silenced, renamed, or removed entirely depending on how theyβre described.
There is a reason many natural, traditional practices are pushed into tight boxes like this. When something cannot be patented, controlled, or mass-produced in the same way, it doesnβt fit neatly into the system that profits from it.
Iβll let you draw your own conclusions there.
What I will say is this:
This is not my choice, and this is not because my products are unsafe. This is about restrictions placed on herbalists and small businesses, and the limitations of a system that was not built with traditional plant medicine in mind.
If I continued selling at the market under these conditions, I would be shut down.
Because of this, I will no longer be at the farmers market.
That part absolutely breaks my heart.
So many of you have stood at my booth, trusted me, shared your stories, and supported something I built from the ground up with my own hands. That connection is something I will never replace.
But Wetting My Plants is not going anywhere.
I will still be offering all of my products directly through this page, and I will continue doing meetups and order pickups so you can still get everything you love.
Thank you for standing with me, supporting me, and believing in what I do. This community means everything to me, and Iβm not done yet.
With love, always,
Wetting My Plants
