I don't consume media in the morning. I can't afford to.
Not because the world isn't important. But because the beginning of the day is the only time my thoughts are purely my own.
Once outside voices get in ā the opinions, the headlines, the static ā it's hard to hear yourself. And if you can't hear yourself, you can't think straight. You can't create. You can't lead.
The Stoics called this guarding the morning. Protecting the first hours as sacred space for your own mind before the world starts acting on you.
Marcus Aurelius did it in a military camp. I do it in my garage.
Same principle. Different century.
