Here’s what I wish I knew before becoming a mom:

Emotional masking feels like control. It isn’t.

When we push down anger, exhaustion, grief, resentment we’re not making them disappear. We’re just storing them. And stored emotion doesn’t stay quiet forever.

I was REALLY good at pushing stuff down due to a lifetime of hiding the way I truly felt living through complex trauma.

Once I became a mom pushing it down was no longer sustainable. And outbursts would happen over something small. The spilled juice. The whined “no.” The fifth interruption in ten minutes. It was never really about that moment but about every moment before it that got swallowed instead of felt.

Then would come the shame. The replay loop. I’m the parent I swore I’d never be. That shame can feel unbearable and even heavier than the outburst itself. It convinced me the outburst was who I was, not something that happened.

Here’s what I want you to know: the outburst isn’t who you are. It’s a nervous system that ran out of room to hold what you weren’t letting yourself feel.

Suppression isn’t regulation; it’s postponement, with interest.

In order to stop this cycle, you have to learn how to feel your feelings from scratch. No one ever taught you and your old survival patterns won’t help you. That’s the work. And you’re allowed to still be doing it.

I think a lot of therapists, coaches and healers think if you just show up online and throw spaghetti at the wall something will stick. The truth is any content creator who is massively successful has a lot of strategy behind their brand. Especially if they are in the healing profession.

They’ve somehow managed to translate years of research and academia into a 6 second video with caption or a 5 slide carousel that keeps people captivated and helps them understand something they never would have before.

I want to help you do that in a way that feels sustainable and energizing.

We will do 8 Bi-weekly groups Thursdays at 12 pm EST.
Early bird ends August 1st. Last day to sign up is August 8th.

DM if you have questions.

It took me years, a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and extra training in somatics, trauma and the nervous system to finally understand how the emotional masking trick that kept me safe in childhood had impacted my body.

When my environment couldn’t hold my feelings, my body found a way to hold them for me. My tight jaw, the practiced smile, the “I’m fine” that came out before I even checked in with myself.

Real healing tends to move slowly. It starts with rebuilding a sense of safety in the body, so your nervous system can gradually trust that being honest won’t cost you anything anymore.

I also regularly remind myself, “I’m allowed to feel this way.”

No, everything does not happen for a reason. And we can take the horrible things that have happened to us and use them to make meaning out of our lives.

Honestly, that’s why I became a therapist. That’s why my specialty is people with C-PTSD and childhood trauma. Because I know what it’s like. And it’s led me toward such profound purpose in my life.

This is something called post-traumatic growth and it happens often to trauma survivors.
