What does it take to build—and sustain—a “good” profession?

In the latest AASP newsletter, we explore how graduate program accreditation is helping strengthen the future of sport and performance psychology by creating clear standards for education, training, ethical practice, mentorship, and professional preparation.

With AASP’s Graduate Program Accreditation Council (GPAC) now moving programs through the accreditation process, this work represents an important step toward ensuring future professionals enter the field prepared to serve clients competently, ethically, and effectively.

Lori Gano-Overway has been named the 2026 AASP Foundation Teaching Excellence Award recipient!

The Teaching Excellence Award was developed to acknowledge exceptional classroom educators in the field of sport and performance psychology. This award’s purpose is to recognize a member of AASP who demonstrates teaching excellence and advances the field/profession through teaching.
