Weโ€™ve said this more than a few hundred times, but it really is incredible how much Ava can do while going through treatment. If you could see what she has to go through and what these medications do to the body, youโ€™d be amazed at her stamina and outlook. The doctors are completely shocked every time we tell them what weโ€™ve done during the weeks between treatment. After two days of chemo and other medications, today she found joy in being present with kittens and the best chicken tender dinner. Life can be so good if you just let it be. ๏ฟผ

Fall Break looks different this year ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ˜ท
Sheโ€™s tired but her counts were great this cycle, so she can take all 3 meds. Thereโ€™s a possibility she will only need to do all 3 for one more cycle after this based on scans. Then we might only need the targeted therapy every 3 weeks. The targeted therapy is not a chemotherapy but instead an investigational drug that targets the human death receptor to destroy the tumor cells. I call it the Death Star every time the doctor talks about it. ๐Ÿ’ซ ๐ŸŒ– hereโ€™s hoping and praying this is what works for her ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

After getting an extra 2 weeks off of treatment, Ava is back for cycle 5. If you canโ€™t tell, sheโ€™s not super excited about it. Weโ€™ve had the absolute most amazing time with family and friends. Praying this week goes smoothly for our girl ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Reading the scan results 16 hours before the doctors can look and discuss is draining. There are a lot of scary words in MRI, pet scan and CT reports.
But today, we have even more reason to be thankful. The doctor called saying he wanted to give us good news again- no new disease, the lung spots are still slowly decreasing and the amount of disease in her blood pool is pretty low. So we keep going. At least 2 more cycles, which will take up her fall break, but at least itโ€™s working. The future is always unknown, but we are going to enjoy every little thing we can in the present. ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Why we are shocked when prayers are answered immediately ๏ฟผis crazy. Our favorite canine companion, Hadley was walking down the hall straight towards Avaโ€˜s room about five minutes after her port access. ๏ฟผWe are so thankful for little blessings.

This morning was a rough access for her port. It took a couple tries and it hurt her. I made sure the nurses knew that Ava rarely cries even when sheโ€™s in pain. As a parent, we just wish we could take her place every day ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Hopefully we can make her happy tonight. One more day 1๏ธโƒฃ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ
