The Aftercare Team will be hosting a correspondence workshop for donor families interested in writing to the recipients of their loved ones' organs on Tuesday, October 20th at 2pm EDT. The meeting will be held via Zoom.

The workshop will include topics such as what information can be included in the correspondence, common concerns, the process for identity disclosure and meeting organ recipients, and time for open discussion and questions.

*Please note that this workshop is intended for families whose loved one was able to donate at least one organ that was transplanted. Although correspondence is sometimes possible between the families of tissue donors and their recipients, that is a little more complicated. If you are a tissue donor family and you have questions about the possibility of corresponding with recipients, please contact the Aftercare team at [email protected].

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For those affected by breast cancer, the journey doesn’t always end when treatment does. For some survivors, reconstructive surgery can be an important part of healing and restoring confidence.

Tissue donation can help make these reconstructive procedures possible. Through the generosity of tissue donors and their families, donated skin tissue may be used in reconstructive surgeries for people who have experienced cancer, severe burns and other life-changing conditions.

At Indiana Donor Network, we’re constantly reminded that one person’s decision to donate can bring hope, healing and renewed possibilities to another.

Today, we were honored to be part of the Indiana Donor Network Walk to Save Lives!

More than 600 people came together to raise awareness and show their support for organ and tissue donation, and we were so happy to be there! Our job was to greet the walkers, share some smiles, offer encouragement, and remind everyone how much love and support can mean.

What an incredible cause and a beautiful reminder of the difference we can make when we come together to help others! We felt so privileged to be part of such a meaningful event and to share a little comfort along the way.

In fact, the individuals pictured here have worked in various supply chain roles for over a combined 75 years! Thanks for all you do to honor our donors, their families and communities, and organ and tissue recipients.

David never imagined that he would need a heart one day. An avid runner, loving father and devoted husband, he found himself on the waiting list to receive a heart. Since his transplant, he has been able to share in all of life's exciting moments, including one with the daughter of his donor hero.
