Souvenirs.
Today I'm back at the Caribbean Sea, but this time on an island.
This picture is from one of my best souvenirs in life some time ago, when I lived on a boat for several months, crossing from Cartagena to San Blas, back and forth, stopping at a beach, an island, or in the middle of nothing, feeling seasick the first couple of times, appreciating electricity, learning to use eolic and solar power, connecting with nature and animals and my body; disconnecting from material goods, loosing wheight in baggage, being more strict with vegetarianism (at that time), smelling the wind to recognize the rain 20 minutes before it started, sailing in the middle of the night, sometimes on a total blackout while trusting radars, sometimes with total vision lighted by the moon, being surprised by incredible amounts of flyingfish jumping all over the deck trying to survive, me whistling to attract dolphins that would swim, jump and make some company while the Sun started to shine.
Sunsets were awesome, friends became family, water was gold, trash was was separated/recycled/composted.
The dinghy replaced my motorcycle while out there. My room was a palace and the view out the window was my old computer's background screensaver. Doing the laundry had to be while connected to the water pump at docking, but drying it, was a 10 minute thing outside the deck. Taking a long shower became a goofy adventure, while rain was pouring from a tube that came off the roof, with a strong inexhaustible water jetstream. Water was at perfect temperature, weather was hot enough, air was clean and pure.
I first saw, and understood,why we call it DEEP BLUE. Jumping into the water to snorkel when the radar marked 3 kms depth, in the middle of nowhere waiting for dolphins and whales that never came, loosing sight of perspective and distance on a submarine landscape 3D view, while being pulled by a rope at the back end of the catamaran at 20 knots of speed, was the best Dineyland rollercoaster adrenaline adventure I ever felt !
