Wearable assistive technology is changing the way people with disabilities interact with the world around them. From smart glasses that provide real-time visual assistance to rings that control lights and appliances, today’s wearable technology can help make everyday tasks more accessible.

INDATA is highlighting several innovative devices, including Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, the Lotus Ring, Dot Watch, eSight Go and Vision Buddy — technology designed to support greater access, independence and connection.

And this is just a sneak peek! Join INDATA for its FREE Wearable Assistive Technology Full Day Training on August 26 to see these devices and more in action.

A new school year means new classrooms, new teachers, new routines — and for many students with disabilities, a new year with an IEP.

But what exactly is an IEP?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a written plan developed specifically for a student who qualifies for special education services. It outlines the supports, services and goals they need to learn, participate and make progress at school.

An IEP may include:

* Individual learning goals
* Special education services
* Speech, occupational or physical therapy
* Assistive technology
* Classroom accommodations and modifications
* Testing accommodations
* Plans for measuring and reporting progress

Most importantly, an IEP is individualized. No two students have exactly the same strengths, challenges or needs, so their educational plans shouldn’t be exactly the same either.

Parents and caregivers are important members of the IEP team, working alongside teachers, therapists and other school professionals to help set their student up for success.

As another school year begins, here’s to creating classrooms where every student has the tools, support and opportunity they need to thrive! 📚✏️
