I received my undergraduate degree from The College of St. I later earned my Masters of Science in biomedical research followed by my medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. As a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), I love incorporating osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) or osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT) with a special focus on fascia (a band or sheet

of connective tissue fibers, primarily collagen, which forms beneath the skin to attach, stabilize, enclose and separate muscles and other internal organs), energy/rhythms, and ligaments/tendons. Treatments are sometimes gentle and relaxing or rigorous. Overall, I care about function and believe in the body’s natural ability to heal itself. I am from a tiny town where you know nearly everyone. To this day, as a family physician, I take great pleasure in seeing all generations of families, as well as tribes of friends. This is a beautiful and multifaceted way to know and care for someone. Throughout my medical training, I gravitated towards the functional medicine approach to constantly ask “why”. My parents, who were science teachers, were my earliest examples of this. Later, colleagues, friends, and even you, my patients, have nurtured this approach. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, gardening, home restoration, traveling, painting, photography, team sports, reading, and especially organizing. I have happy adult children who make the world better (fact!). So my favorite travels are to see or be with them.

PRP is becoming one of the most talked-about regenerative treatments for a reason.

There is growing evidence supporting the use of PRP for:

* Joint pain
* Tendon injuries
* Ligament injuries
* Hair restoration
* Skin rejuvenation

The reason many patients are drawn to PRP is because it works WITH the body’s natural healing response instead of simply masking symptoms temporarily.

For joints, tendons, and ligaments, PRP may help improve stability, reduce discomfort, and support healing where recovery has slowed down.

For facial rejuvenation, PRP may help improve:

* Skin texture
* Fine lines
* Elasticity
* Overall skin quality

And for hair restoration, PRP has shown promising results in improving hair density, particularly in patients experiencing androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss).

Like any treatment, results can vary from person to person. The most common side effects are typically mild and temporary, including soreness, swelling, or irritation at the injection site.

Think about your life like a chair. Without 4 solid legs, you'll spend your whole day trying to balance a wobbly seat. Now what are the 4 legs? Mind. Body. Spirit. Social.
- Mind: Are you in a good mental state? For this leg to be solid, you need to be able to regulate your emotions, think clearly, and have effective balancing techniques.
- Body: Does your body FEEL good? You need a healthy balance of exercise, diet, and sleep for this to be a leg you rely on. Having a high bench press doesn't mean much if you're sleeping 4am-8am every day.
- Spirit: How's your energy? Do you find yourself constantly rundown and burnt out? You need to maintain a healthy spirit to keep the other 3 legs from falling behind.
- Social: What does your circle look like? Go be with people you enjoy spending time with. There's nothing worse than isolating yourself because you found an excuse to. You've got your whole life to be busy, spend today doing something that makes you happy.

Most people overcomplicate supplements.

As an osteopath, I look at supplements the same way I look at treatment: not everyone needs everything, but the right support can make a massive difference.

Here are a few supplements I consistently see helping patients when they’re actually needed

* Vitamin D → Mood, immune support, magnesium absorption
* Magnesium → Sleep, recovery, and one of the most common deficiencies I see
* Fish Oil → Cardiovascular support, mood, and immune regulation
* B12 → Extremely important for nervous system function
* Glutathione → Helpful post-viral or for deficiency support
* Zinc → Great when absorbed properly and balanced correctly
* Collagen → May support connective tissues, nails, and recovery

The key is this: supplements should support the body, not replace the fundamentals.

Far too many people take random supplements without knowing what their body actually needs.

A more holistic approach means understanding deficiencies, absorption, recovery, sleep, stress, and overall function before throwing everything at the wall.

“What made you want to become a doctor?”

Honestly? I originally wanted to become an archaeologist… but I couldn’t spell it. So here we are.

But beyond the jokes, medicine always felt personal to me.

Growing up, my hometown doctor was someone who truly cared. He was thorough, kind, and took time with people. Patients weren’t rushed through the process. They felt heard.

That experience shaped the way I approach medicine today.

When I meet a new patient, I may already have the records, labs, and imaging. But the first thing I really want to know is:

“What brings you in?”
“What do you need?”
“What kind of approach do you want to take?”

Because healthcare should never feel one-sided.

And for anyone currently going through residency, burnout, or a difficult season in life:

“When you’re going through hell, keep going.”
