To all my ladies 🌸

We’re cyclical beings living in a world that often ignores our natural rhythms. We’re taught to push through, ignore what our bodies are telling us, and keep going even when we’re running on empty.

But the truth is, our hormones affect so much more than just our cycle. They shape our mood, energy, digestion, sleep, metabolism, memory, and even our skin; and they don’t work alone. They’re deeply connected with the thyroid and adrenal glands, which help manage energy, stress, and balance throughout the body. When one part of this system is out of sync, it can ripple through everything else.

On top of that, modern life can make things harder. We are exposed to countless environmental toxins daily which interfere with hormonal communication. Therefore, reducing that “toxic load” where we can is the first step in supporting hormonal balance.

Understanding how our bodies work, not just medically, but rhythmically, can be deeply empowering because we can start working with it instead of against it. Nourishing lifestyle practices can include healthy fats, sunlight exposure, regular movement, seed cycling, castor oil packs, meditation, stress regulation, and prioritizing restorative sleep. Movement is most supportive when balanced; too much intensity can elevate stress hormones and strain the adrenals, while too little can impact blood sugar regulation, energy, and mood stability.

Nature also offers herbal allies to support hormonal wellness, including black cohosh, chasteberry (vitex), d**g quai, red clover, shatavari, holy basil, maca, and ashwagandha. Key nutrients such as magnesium, B vitamins, selenium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids further support healthy thyroid, adrenal, and hormonal function.

At the heart of it all, wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about listening to your body, honoring its cycles, and making choices that help you feel more in harmony and supported in your everyday life. 💛

Most people focus on the iris.

But the sclera (the white of the eye) has fascinated researchers for decades.

Recent studies suggest that changes in the eye may reflect broader patterns related to aging, health, and even how we connect with one another.

In Sclerology, practitioners observe markings, vessel patterns, and changes within the sclera as part of a broader assessment of the body's condition.

Because the eyes are more than organs of sight.

They are among the most visible reflections of what's happening within.

17 years somehow feels like both a lifetime ago and just yesterday.

This past weekend, I had the chance to return to my old college stomping grounds and reconnect with friends who helped shape some of the best years of my life. We spent time catching up, reminiscing, and realizing that while time moves fast, true friendships have a way of picking up right where they left off.

Standing on the beach, listening to country music with the ocean breeze in my hair, I was reminded of something important: life is short. The dreams, trips, reunions, and adventures you've been talking about for years don't belong in "someday." They belong in today.

Don't wait for the perfect time. Don't assume there will always be another season, another opportunity, or another year. Call the friend. Take the trip. Chase the dream. Make the memory.

This weekend was a beautiful reminder of exactly why that matters. Some of life's greatest gifts come from reconnecting with the people and places that have shaped your journey.

While I was born and raised in Vermont, there’s still a piece of me that’s a Carolina girl at heart. Home isn’t always where you begin or where you end up; it’s the collection of people, places, memories, and moments that shape who you are. Home isn’t just a place; it’s a feeling. ❤️

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, a time to focus on protecting one of our most valuable assets: our brain. While Alzheimer’s disease is a complex condition with many contributing factors, it’s important to recognize that long-term brain vitality is influenced by circulation, nutrition, inflammation, toxicity, stress, and overall constitutional health.

The brain depends on healthy circulation. When circulation becomes sluggish, brain cells may not receive optimal nourishment, which can contribute to symptoms such as brain fog, difficulty concentrating, poor memory, mental fatigue, dizziness, and reduced mental clarity.

In iridology, certain constitutional indicators may suggest tendencies toward circulatory congestion, lipid imbalance, or reduced tissue oxygenation. One of these patterns is known as lipemic diathesis, which may appear as a whitish or cloudy appearance in the upper portion of the iris. The presence of this sign may indicate that circulation to the brain could benefit from additional support. While iridology observations are not diagnostic of Alzheimer’s disease or cardiovascular conditions, they can serve as indicators for supporting overall wellness in these areas.

There are many wonderful herbal allies that may support circulation and cognitive function, including Ginkgo Biloba, Gotu Kola, Hawthorn, Bacopa, and Lion’s Mane.

Nutrition and lifestyle also play a huge role in brain health. The brain thrives on nutrient-dense foods rich in antioxidants and healthy fats. Regular physical activity, quality sleep, lifelong learning, social engagement, time in nature, meditation, and mindfulness are equally important for maintaining cognitive wellness and supporting healthy aging.

Your brain is worth protecting, nurturing, and honoring every single day. 💜

The eyes are responding to plant medicine…

Credit to Kerry Bone for highlighting this research.

A recent double-blind, placebo-controlled study from Korea looked at Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) and its effects on eye health over 6 months.

Participants taking the extract showed:
-Significant improvements in macular pigment levels compared with placebo
-Early changes noted by 120 days
-Very high responder rate (~95%)
-No serious safety concerns

Macular pigment is one of the eye’s natural protective layers, linked with visual clarity, contrast sensitivity, and long-term retinal resilience.

From an integrated iridology perspective, what’s interesting here is the way measurable changes in retinal integrity may reflect broader patterns of microvascular and nutritional support — something often considered when reading long-term stress and tissue response in the iris.

While this doesn’t replace clinical eye care, it adds to the growing picture that plant-based therapies like Gotu Kola may play a role in supporting ocular health in measurable ways.

There is an inherent intelligence within all of us. Because of this, healing is not simply a mechanical process, but an art, guided by deep observation, intuition, and individualized understanding.

It is essential to remember that no two people are alike. Nutritional “objectivity” means we should never approach the body as if one supplement or one diet applies universally to everyone. There are no magic bullets for symptoms. Instead, each individual must be assessed on their own unique constitution, and nutrients should be applied specifically when needed to support the body during times of increased stress and demand.

Without a comprehensive method of evaluation, we cannot truly understand what the body is struggling to maintain in order to preserve balance and health. This type of assessment must include the body’s ability to digest, absorb, and assimilate nutrients. Without this deeper understanding, even the best diet or supplementation plan may fail to resolve the root cause.

From a holistic standpoint, every symptom reflects a form of stress, whether mechanical, chemical, or emotional that is either too intense or too prolonged for the body to fully adapt to. When we focus solely on suppressing symptoms, we risk interfering with the body’s natural adaptive and healing processes.

True healing supports the body’s intelligence rather than overriding it. 💫

Instead of asking “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜?”

Iridology asks:

“𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜?”

That shift moves the conversation from fear… to understanding,

and from reaction… to support.

Not every body has the same reserves.

The same tolerance.

The same recovery time.

What feels manageable for one system may create strain for another.

The iris can reflect those constitutional differences — helping guide support that respects the individual, not the average.

Because realistic care begins with understanding capacity.
