My name is Corey Brinkley. I am 33 years old and a proud father to my two boys, Ryiker (12) and Silas (8). My youngest son, Silas, is autistic, and my children are my entire world. They are the reason I keep fighting every single day.
For the last 4 years, I have been battling stage 4 kidney failure and spending countless hours tied to a dialysis machine just to stay alive. Dialysis keeps me here, but it has also taken so much from me. I miss being able to truly live life with my boys and do things that once brought me happiness like fishing, camping, listening to music, and making art. Things most people take for granted are now extremely difficult for me because my life revolves around treatments, exhaustion, and simply trying to survive.
There are days when my body feels worn down, but the hardest part is knowing my children need their dad. I want to be there to watch them grow up, to take them fishing, to go camping, to laugh with them, and to create memories they will remember forever. My biggest fear is not having enough time with them.
I am urgently in need of a kidney transplant and am praying for either a living or deceased donor. My blood type is O positive, so anyone with O blood may be able to donate directly. Even if you have another blood type, you may still be able to help through a paired kidney exchange program.
A kidney donation would not just save my life, it would give my children their father back. It would give me the chance to live again instead of merely surviving from one dialysis treatment to the next.
