I'm overwhelmed by the incredible support on my last post(pinned). I know the number of shares isn't alot to some people, but to me, in this time of need, it means so much to me. Everyone who shared my story, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My boys, Ryiker and Silas, are my world, and seeing people help me in my search for a living donor lifts our spirits.

My name is Corey Brinkley. I am 33 years old and a proud father to my two boys, Ryiker (12) and Silas (8). My youngest son, Silas, is autistic, and my children are my entire world. They are the reason I continue to fight every single day.

My health battles started when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 13 years old. For years, my diabetes was extremely difficult to control, despite trying everything I could. Only recently, after being placed on an insulin pump, have my blood sugars finally become more stable. But by then, so much damage had already been done to my body.

Then life took another devastating turn. After contracting both COVID and the flu at the same time, I was diagnosed with brainstem encephalitis. The illness attacked my body so severely that I ended up confined to a wheelchair. Doctors were unsure how much I would recover. But I refused to give up.

I fought my way from a wheelchair… to a walker… then to a cane. Today, by the grace of God and pure determination, I am able to walk again with only a gait in my step. Every single step I take is proof that I refuse to stop fighting for my life and for my children.

For the last 4 years, I have also been battling stage 4 kidney failure and spending countless hours tied to a dialysis machine just to stay alive. Dialysis keeps me here, but it has stolen so much from me. I miss being able to truly live life with my boys and do the things I once loved like fishing, camping, creating art, and enjoying music without the constant exhaustion and limitations that dialysis brings. My life revolves around treatments, medications, doctor appointments, and simply trying to make it through another day.

There are nights I lie awake terrified my children may lose their father. I want to be here to watch them grow up. I want to take my boys fishing again, sit around a campfire with them, cheer them on through life, and make memories they will carry forever. My children deserve their dad, and I am fighting with everything I have to stay here for them.

I am urgently in need of a kidney transplant and praying for either a living or deceased donor. My blood type is O positive, so anyone with O blood may be able to donate directly. Even if you have another blood type, you may still be able to help through a paired kidney exchange program.

A kidney donation would not just save my life, it would give my children their father back. It would give me a second chance at life after years of fighting battle after battle just to survive.
