One of the best things you can do to support hormonal health is reduce your exposure to inflammatory foods, especially foods you personally don’t tolerate well.

When a food repeatedly triggers an inflammatory response, it can increase the body’s demand for certain nutrients, including vitamin B6.

B6 plays an important role in hormone metabolism, including pathways involved in estrogen metabolism and clearance.

This is another reason why nutrition for hormonal health isn’t just about calories or macros.

Food quality matters.
Digestion matters.
Nutrient status matters.
Inflammation matters.

Supporting hormones means supporting the systems responsible for making, metabolizing, and clearing them.

Let’s talk about the immune system and the aging process

Your immune system doesn’t simply decline with age, it remodels.

As you age, your immune system changes.

Some parts become less effective at fighting new infections, while other parts become more chronically active, creating low-grade inflammation.

This remodeling can contribute to:

* Increased inflammation
* Slower recovery and healing
* Reduced response to vaccines
* Greater susceptibility to infections
* A higher risk of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions

The goal isn’t just to “boost” your immune system.

It’s to support a well-regulated, resilient immune system that can respond appropriately when it’s needed.

How can you support your immune system as you age?

✔️ Prioritize quality sleep
✔️ Eat enough protein and nutrient-dense whole foods
✔️ Strength train to preserve muscle and metabolic health
✔️ Manage chronic stress and support nervous system regulation
✔️ Correct nutrient deficiencies when appropriate (such as vitamin D, zinc, iron, and B vitamins)
✔️ Support a healthy gut microbiome with a fiber-rich, diverse diet
✔️ Stay physically active—but make recovery just as important as exercise

Oh man……. I’m deeply studying weight loss resistance and reasons why….

This could be a whole series to chat about.

But why wait …. Let’s talk about one factor that affects calories coming in and out…

That is the thermic effect of food

Heres a clinic Clinical Pearl for ya!

The body uses nearly twice as much energy digesting the whole-food meal compared with the processed meal, despite similar calories and macronutrients.

Key Takeaway

Food processing influences the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). Two meals with identical calories can result in different amounts of energy being expended during digestion, leaving different amounts of energy available for storage.

We’re talking DOUBLE the cals burned from eating whole foods vs eating processed foods.

So there’s one easy switch for you ladies… Stop eating food that’s processed. Just because it has a label on the back and it seems “healthy” such as “cheese and crackers”, or “Peyton bars” you could be burning double the amount of calories from Whole Foods.

One of the biggest reasons someone who is overweight struggles to lose weight isn’t always because they’re eating too much. In many cases, it’s because they’re stuck in a cycle of under-eating during the week, then overeating when hunger, cravings, stress, or exhaustion eventually catch up.

The body doesn’t respond well to inconsistency. Long periods of under-nourishment can increase hunger hormones, reduce spontaneous movement (NEAT), lower training performance, and make it much harder to maintain a true calorie deficit over time. The result is a pattern of restriction followed by compensation, which often keeps weight unchanged.

The goal isn’t to eat less. It’s to eat consistently enough that your body no longer feels the need to fight back.

Sustainable fat loss comes from providing your body with adequate nutrition, enough protein, balanced meals, and consistency day after day—not from cycles of deprivation followed by overeating.

You don’t build a healthy metabolism by starving it. You build it by nourishing it consistently and it DOESN’T MATTER if you are overweight or underweight.

“I’m eating less, exercising more… so why won’t the weight come off?” 🤔

If you’re in perimenopause or menopause, it may not be because you’re not trying hard enough.

Here are a few reasons your body may be resisting fat loss:

✔️ You’re losing muscle, which lowers the calories you burn each day.
✔️ Hormonal changes can change where your body prefers to store fat.
✔️ Poor sleep can leave you hungrier and make it harder to stick with healthy habits.
✔️ Chronic stress can make it feel like you’re constantly fighting your body instead of working with it.

So what actually helps?

✨ Prioritize strength training 2–4 days a week.
✨ Eat enough protein at every meal.
✨ Walk daily to increase overall movement.
✨ Be consistent instead of chasing perfection.
✨ Give your body time to adapt instead of starting another extreme diet.

Your body isn’t broken.
It may simply need a different strategy than it did in your 20s and 30s.

❤️ The goal isn’t to eat less and do more.
The goal is to become stronger, healthier, and create a body that works with you—not against you.

Which one has been the biggest challenge for you? Sleep, stress, nutrition, or stubborn belly fat?

✨ Progress isn’t always loud.
Some seasons are about pushing.
Some seasons are about listening.
The strongest thing you can do isn’t always adding more weight, more cardio, or more intensity. Sometimes it’s honoring what your body is asking for so it can come back stronger.
Recovery isn’t quitting.
Recovery is training.
Whether you’re navigating stress, hormones, injury, or simply life’s demands, remember:
🌿 Rest is productive.
💪 Consistency beats perfection.
❤️ Your body is always communicating—learn to listen.
Meet yourself where you are today, not where you think you “should” be.
One workout.
One walk.
One healthy meal.
One deep breath.
Small choices, repeated consistently, create lasting change.
What is one way you’re supporting your body today?

The Real Goal Isn’t More Calories—It’s More Fuel

The Myth:
“Eating more automatically causes fat gain.”

The Reality:
Many midlife women have spent years dieting themselves into a corner.

When the body doesn’t have enough energy:
Recovery suffers
Muscle growth slows
Hormones struggle
Performance drops
Hunger signals become unreliable

The goal is not to force-feed yourself.
The goal is to strategically provide enough energy for the body to feel safe, recover, adapt, and respond.

“The body cannot build, repair, recover, and thrive from a chronic energy deficit.”

If you’ve spent years trying to eat less, the idea of eating more can feel terrifying.

But for many women, the next level of fat loss, hormone health, and muscle growth doesn’t come from more restriction.

It comes from learning how to fuel a body that has been under-fueled for years.
