Awesome and crazy.

Just came across research from 2021 treating alpha-gal syndrome (ya know, the tick borne illness where you become allergic to red meat) with ear acupuncture.

The results were very promising. And although there is nuance that you can look at with the methodology, the great thing about acupuncture and trying it (actually giving it a try, not just one and done treatment!) are the potential adverse reactions are virtually zero. Maybe some pinching pain upon insertion but definitely worth a look into!

I’ve also known people who have found great relief, reduction in symptoms, and remission from acupuncture for the Lyme’s symptoms.

So cool!!!!

Western medicine, and the West as a whole, is so stuck on the illusion pain=bad that we never tend to ask the deeper question of why there is pain, and what is our body telling us. Of course, pain isn’t fun. It isn’t pleasant. And don’t get me wrong, I think it’s natural to want it gone as quickly as it can be.

But….

Just because you have pain somewhere, doesn’t mean there is an emergency. A lot of times, especially with chronic pain, your body is out of balance - homeostasis is compromised.

Within our culture, we want to numb it, cover it up, make it disappear asap. But what does that help?
Sure, in the short-term you receive some relief from discomfort.
But is that the best thing for you?
What does covering up pain and discomfort do?

Well, it definitely doesn’t help your body heal properly. In order for your body to heal/repair itself, it needs active stimulation- it needs an immune response and inserting a foreign object (ie acupuncture needles) into your body can illicit that immune response.
It doesn’t cover up and make your body run away from discomfort, but it’s actively communicating with your body to come in and “clean house”, per se, and USING your own molecules, cells, immune system to get there.

Typically, healing is not a one-and-done, take-a-pill-for-your-ill kind of thing. It takes time, it takes effort, and it takes constant bombardment and communication with your body to achieve that healing potential. And, again, in the West we are convinced to run away.
But next time you’re feeling pain, you have an ailment, discomfort is impeding your life… try giving your body the tools it needs to heal itself. It may take “longer”, but healing typically does; covering up is just that- it’ll most always come rushing back when we treat the branch and not the root.

Helping this client's deeper calf muscle (soleus) repair itself quicker, more effectively, and less painfully after a partial tear in a sporting event.

Needles can pe*****te deeply into a muscle belly, or into a joint. Attach some electrical stimulation to that needle and the results are really fantastic when it comes to time it takes your body to recover from injury, your immune response aka your healing potential AND pain management.

It may seem/look unenjoyable, especially because I am attaching an electrical current to the acupuncture needle, but you'd be surprised how little you actually feel it.
AND that is the kicker.
I don't actually want you to be jumping off the table in pain and discomfort. When you can access the muscle/joint you are wanting to get into (THANK YOU LONG ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES!), there is no need for that silly pain association proving effectiveness.

My 2026 will be defined by this trio for low back pain (+ sharp, shooting leg pain/hip pain, etc. It has helped with A LOT of different symptoms): QL muscle, gluteus medias, SI joint.

I have yet to find someone that this did not significantly reduce their pain/discomfort.

Bold claim, I know.

But truly this trio has provided some great results with my patients. Sometimes that happens in 1 treatment, sometimes it'll happen over a few weeks, but the results have stayed consistent and that is minimized and/or eliminated pain and discomfort. And what counts the most is the ability to live your day-to-day without the aches and pains impeding your every move.

Your body has a built-in painkiller system. Acupuncture may switch it on.
