📢 Team Announcement: We Have A New Counselor!

Please join us in welcoming our newest team member, Kaitlynn Heiss, LLMSW, CAADC-DP, who is joining the Hematite Health Clinic as our new Mental Health Counselor! 🎉

Originally, from the small town of Howard City in the Lower Peninsula, Kaitlynn moved to the Upper Peninsula to attend Northern Michigan University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work (MSW).

Kaitlynn brings an incredible background in adolescent mental health and addiction counseling to our school-based clinic:
• Clinical Internship: Served as an addiction counselor at Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) through their adolescent center.
• Day Treatment Therapist: Spent the past year working at Superior Shores—a specialized day treatment program operating as a collaboration between MARESA and GLRC.
• Adolescent Care Experience: Worked at Teaching Family Homes while finishing their undergraduate degree, establishing deep expertise supporting youth through individual, group, and family therapy.

In her spare time, Kaitlynn loves to get outside, hike, listen to audio books, do arts crafts, and recently started crocheting. ✈️📚🎨🏕

Kaitlynn is now accepting counseling patients at Hematite Health Clinic. ✅

What We Treat During Acute Visits:
- Cold and Flu: fevers, coughs, congestion, and body aches.
- Infections: UTIs, skin infections, and general illness.
- Sinus and Ear: Earaches, sinus pressure, and nasal blockage.
- Rashes: Sudden skin irritation, hives, or allergic reactions.
- Minor injuries: Sprains, strains.

Our updated hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
