A little glimpse of what happens outside of the massage room! 📚

This continuing education weekend is all about learning spontaneous muscle release techniques for the forearms, hands, head and neck.

These techniques can be especially useful when working with things like headaches, migraines, jaw discomfort, tight forearms, neck and shoulder tension, and repetitive use issues.

Continuing education is all about bringing more tools into the treatment room and having more ways to tailor each massage to what your body actually needs.

Those circular marks you see after cupping? They're completely normal.

While they may look similar to bruises, they're actually a normal response to the gentle suction created by the cups. The color of the marks can range from light pink to deep purple and varies based on factors like your skin, circulation, capillary fragility, the amount of suction used, and how long the cups are left in place. The marks typically fade gradually over 1–2 weeks.

Unlike massage, which applies pressure to the tissues, cupping gently lifts them. This can help increase circulation, reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and support your body's natural healing process. Did you know that tight and stuck feeling may involve more than just your muscles? Let's talk hydration, fascia, and muscle tension...they're more connected than you think! 💪💧

Fascia is the thin layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, nerves, and organs. Healthy fascia is flexible and glides smoothly, allowing your body to move with ease.

When you're dehydrated, fascia can become less pliable. It doesn't glide as well, which may contribute to feelings of tightness, stiffness, and restricted movement. While drinking more water won't magically erase muscle tension overnight, staying well hydrated helps support the health and elasticity of your connective tissues.

Massage can also help by encouraging movement between tissue layers, improving circulation, and reducing areas of restriction.

It's hard to believe RM Massage & Bodywork has already been open for one month!
