Maybe this is the reset you’ve been needing 🌿

Six days in Costa Rica to step away from your normal routine and spend a little more time taking care of your brain, your body, and yourself.

At our Brain Health Kitchen Retreat, we’ll gather for beautiful vegetarian meals, cooking, movement, time in nature, brain health education, and plenty of opportunities to slow down and connect.

And this retreat is completely alcohol-free, an intentional part of creating a week that truly feels restorative.

Think early mornings in the jungle, nourishing food, swimming, hiking, cooking together, meaningful conversations, and going to bed feeling good enough to do it all again the next day. 🌴

The goal is to reset, learn, connect, and come home with habits that support the way you want to live and age.

This April, I’m inviting you to join me in Crete for seven days immersed in the food, movement, culture, and sense of community that make the Mediterranean lifestyle so special.

We’ll hike along the Cretan coastline, e-bike through olive-covered hills, visit a family-run olive oil mill, cook together at an organic farm, and enjoy plenty of wonderful food around the table.

But what I’m looking forward to most is experiencing it all together...slowing down, forming new friendships, and exploring what the Cretan way of life can teach us about caring for our brains and living well.

Come with a friend, partner, sister, or daughter, or join us on your own! Solo travelers are always warmly welcomed into the Brain Health Kitchen community. 💙

Comment ‘Greece’ and I’ll send you the full itinerary, pricing, and details about how to join us!

I am so excited to invite you to join me in Crete! 🇬🇷

From April 18–24, 2027, we’ll spend seven days experiencing the food, culture, movement, and sense of community that make the Mediterranean lifestyle so special.

We’ll hike through the Cretan landscape, e-bike along quiet roads lined with olive trees, visit a family-run olive oil mill, cook together at an organic farm, explore seaside villages, and (of course) enjoy plenty of wonderful food.

There will also be time to slow down, connect with one another, and talk about what the Cretan way of life can teach us about caring for our brains and living well.

This trip is perfect for friends, couples, sisters, mothers and daughters, and solo travelers. We’re keeping the group small, and we only have a handful of spots left.

Comment GREECE and I’ll send you the full itinerary, pricing, and details about reserving your spot. I would love to experience Crete with you! 🩵

B vitamins don’t get nearly as much attention as some other “brain health” nutrients, but they play an important role in keeping our brains functioning well as we age. 🧠

And here’s the tricky part: even if you eat a healthy, balanced diet, that doesn’t always mean you’re getting (or absorbing) enough.

B12 and folate are especially important to pay attention to, along with a blood marker called homocysteine. But before you reach for a B-complex supplement, there’s more to know.

In my latest article, I’m breaking down how B vitamins support the brain, who may be more likely to fall short, the labs I pay attention to, and when food versus supplementation may make sense.

Comment ‘VITAMINS’ and I’ll send you the link to the full article!

Most of us know our LDL cholesterol. But do you know your ApoB?

Preventive neurologist Dr. Kellyann Niotis explains why ApoB can give you a clearer picture of how likely cholesterol particles are to contribute to plaque in the blood vessels of the heart, neck, and brain, and why it may be worth asking your doctor to check it.

It’s also an inexpensive test, which makes this one of the more practical takeaways from our Summer Highlight episode.
We also revisit genetics and APOE4, early cognitive changes, hearing and vision, and why midlife is such an important time to think about dementia prevention.

Most cases of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are not caused by a gene that determines your fate.

Preventive neurologist Dr. Kellyann Niotis explains that truly genetic forms of these diseases likely account for less than 5% of cases. For most of us, genes may change our risk, but they don’t guarantee what happens next.

That’s an important distinction, because it means there are things we can pay attention to and act on long before symptoms appear.

In this Summer Highlight, we revisit some of the most useful moments from my conversation with Dr. Niotis about genetics, cholesterol and ApoB, early cognitive changes, and why midlife is such an important window for protecting brain health.

Alzheimer’s is actually a disease that starts at midlife, but the symptoms don’t show up until decades later.

As preventive neurologist Dr. Kellyann Niotis explains, the changes that eventually lead to Alzheimer’s can begin decades earlier… often in our 30s, 40s, and 50s. That’s why midlife is such an important window for paying attention to brain health and the risk factors we can actually change!

In this Summer Highlight, Dr. Niotis also talks about early cognitive changes, genetics and APOE4, cholesterol and ApoB, hearing and vision, and what dementia prevention can look like in real life.
