Our Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) plans and prepares for emergency scenarios, responds to and supports local EMAs during emergency events, and coordinates and resources recovery efforts in the wake of a disaster.

Their team members often times come in contact with individuals and families in distress, and in turn are impacted by various complex traumas themselves.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Jackson was proud to attend the 5th Annual United Way of Northeast Mississippi Mental Health & Substance Use Recovery Summit!

The event connected over 200 people to resources and education on substance use and recovery efforts throughout our area and state.

Our Community Liaison, Kristen, for north MS had the pleasure of joining our Oceans Behavioral Hospital Tupelo team for a day of networking and sharing resources.

As a new season begins, it is important to check in with the people around us and with ourselves. Changes in mood, energy, sleep or interest in everyday activities can sometimes be signs that additional support may be helpful.

Mental health screenings can offer an opportunity to recognize concerns early and better understand when it may be time to talk with a healthcare professional. They can also help open the door to conversations that may otherwise feel difficult to start.

If you or someone you love has been feeling overwhelmed, withdrawn or depressed, reaching out can be an important first step toward finding support.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Jackson was honored to attend the 4th Annual Ruck 22 event in support of Mission Vigilant-For the 22.

The event brought together veterans, first responders, their families, and community members to bring awareness to those living grief. Through community, shared camaraderie, and friendship, Ruck 22 was a day filled with hope.

Mission Vigilant aims to provide support, mental health resources and other outreach services to service members, veterans and first responders in the community.

It was an honor to attend and stand alongside our community. Thank you, Mission Vigilant-For the 22, for all you do!

The Outpatient team at Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Jackson recognized World Su***de Prevention Day earlier this month through our "You Are Wanted Here: A Day of Awareness, Hope, and Healing" program.

The program focused on su***de prevention awareness, stigma reduction, recognizing warning signs and the importance of asking questions when someone may be struggling. Attendees also learned about the role of hope, healing, treatment and protective support in su***de prevention, while honoring lives lost, attempt survivors, su***de-loss survivors and those who continue their healing journey.

The event concluded with a moment of silence and a symbolic release, providing an opportunity for reflection. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped foster a message of compassion, connection and hope.

Thank you to the Mississippi Department of Mental Health for creating a space where mental health professionals, survivors, and community partners can come together to learn, connect, and explore ways to reduce the stigma surrounding su***de.
