Recognizing signs of mental health concerns in the workplace is important. Knowing how to respond with care, respect, and understanding is just as critical.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Jackson’s Director of Outpatient Services and Market Development Director were grateful for the opportunity to speak with team members at Ergon, Inc. in Flowood during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Conversations like these help promote a more supportive workplace culture by encouraging employees to understand what to say, what not to say and how to respond when someone may be silently struggling.

Thank you to Ergon Inc. for welcoming our team and helping create space for meaningful discussion around mental health in the workplace.

The Public Safety Summit opened with Travis Howze, an author and motivational wellness educator whose 14 years of service as a U.S. Marine, police officer, and firefighter shaped a powerful conversation about trauma, resilience and mental well-being.

Through his personal story and lived experience, Travis created space for first responders, veterans, spouses and loved ones to reflect on the weight of service and the importance of seeking support. He shared his own struggles and the trauma often experienced by those serving on the front lines.

The evening brought both tears and laughter, but most importantly, it created space for vulnerability and new conversations among spouses, friends, co-workers, and loved ones.

Thank you to our Attorney General Lynn Fitch and Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (Official) Sean Tindell for hosting this important event for our those who serve our communities.
