Recognizing signs of mental health concerns in the workplace is important. Knowing how to respond with care, respect, and understanding is just as critical.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Jackson’s Director of Outpatient Services and Market Development Director were grateful for the opportunity to speak with team members at Ergon, Inc. in Flowood during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Conversations like these help promote a more supportive workplace culture by encouraging employees to understand what to say, what not to say and how to respond when someone may be silently struggling.

Thank you to Ergon Inc. for welcoming our team and helping create space for meaningful discussion around mental health in the workplace.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Jackson was grateful to participate in the annual Mississippi Mental Health Faith-Based Summit, hosted by the Mississippi Public Health Institute Public Health Institute and the Congregational Recovery Outreach Project.

The event brought together community agencies, faith leaders, and church members for a meaningful day of connection, collaboration, and conversation around mental health and addiction.

Mental health challenges can affect individuals and families from all walks of life, and faith communities can play an important role in offering hope, support, and connection to care.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this important conversation and to continue strengthening partnerships that support healing and recovery across our communities.

The Public Safety Summit opened with Travis Howze, an author and motivational wellness educator whose 14 years of service as a U.S. Marine, police officer, and firefighter shaped a powerful conversation about trauma, resilience and mental well-being.

Through his personal story and lived experience, Travis created space for first responders, veterans, spouses and loved ones to reflect on the weight of service and the importance of seeking support. He shared his own struggles and the trauma often experienced by those serving on the front lines.

The evening brought both tears and laughter, but most importantly, it created space for vulnerability and new conversations among spouses, friends, co-workers, and loved ones.

Thank you to our Attorney General Lynn Fitch and Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (Official) Sean Tindell for hosting this important event for our those who serve our communities.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Jackson was honored to participate in the Landon Murphy Golf Tournament, a meaningful event supporting Landon Murphy, a Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper currently battling brain cancer, and his family.

The tournament brought together tremendous support, care and resources for the Murphy family as they continue through treatment, healing and recovery.

We are grateful to Ruth Ann Rigby, CRS, with First Responders of MS for the invitation and for the opportunity to stand alongside this community in support of Landon, his wife and his family.

As National Nurses Week comes to a close, we’re honored to celebrate Alex B., RN, whose words reflect the compassion, dignity and respect at the heart of behavioral health care.

For Alex, nursing means “to see the person beyond the diagnosis and provide care rooted in compassion, understanding, and respect.”

“I love being a nurse at Oceans because it allows me the autonomy to provide meaningful care to individuals who are often stigmatized for their mental health diagnoses,” Alex shared. “I’m passionate about helping clients see that they are not just a number or a diagnosis - they are people with stories, worth and dignity.”

As an outpatient nurse at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Jackson, Alex is committed to helping each patient feel seen, heard and supported.

Thank you, Alex, for the meaningful care you provide and for the compassion you bring to Oceans each day.
