Eboni, this one really touched me.
To hear you talk about being a “shop baby” and everything coming full circle brought back a lot of memories.
I remember you as a baby in the salon while I was servicing your mom, Toria Govan . And now, 24 years later, I get to watch you build your own brand with .Essentials, become an influencer within the braiding community, grow as a professional cosmetologist, businesswoman and mother.... and now represent Hair Elements as one of our educators.
That’s full circle.
And I couldn’t be more proud of the woman and professional you’ve become!
When you’ve been in this industry as long as I have, anniversaries stop being only about how many years you’ve been in business. You start looking around at the people who were children when you started.... and they’re now building businesses, educating others and becoming leaders themselves.
THAT is legacy.
And seeing your generation step forward gives me even more determination to protect, preserve and tell the truth about the Black American beauty industry we’ve inherited.... so that your generation, and the generations coming behind you, understand what was built before them and have something strong to build upon.
Thank you, Eboni, for this beautiful tribute and for being part of the Hair Elements story.
From a shop baby… to a Hair Elements educator.
Who would have thought? ❤️
24 years later, we’re still here.... and the next generation is already carrying it forward.
