๐ฟ FRIDAY RESET: Sometimes the reset isnโt adding more. Itโs stepping away for a while. ๐๐ฝ
Hereโs something that caught my attention: a recent review examined 99 randomized clinical trials involving 6,582 adults and found that intermittent-fasting approaches can help with weight management and some cardiometabolic risk factors, although the benefits vary and fasting isnโt necessarily better than other healthy eating approaches.
But for me, fasting has never been only about food.
Iโm speaking from experience when I say there are times when I need to quiet the noise, step away from my normal routine, fast and pray, and make room to listen. ๐๐ฝ๐
I fast and pray for healing, clarity, direction, discipline and renewal. Sometimes the lesson isnโt about what Iโm giving up. Itโs about obedience, focus, and what Iโm making room for.
And there can be a physical side to fasting too. Research suggests certain forms of intermittent fasting may support weight management and measures such as fasting insulin, blood sugar and other metabolic-health markers in some adults. But the long-term effects are still being studied, and fasting is not appropriate for everyone.
So my Friday Reset thought is this:
๐๐ฝ Fast with purpose.
๐ง Stay mindful of your body.
๐ฟ Nourish yourself well when you eat.
๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ Make room for stillness.
โค๏ธ And remember that fasting does not have to look the same for everyone.
If youโre considering a food fast, please talk with your physician or qualified healthcare professional first, especially if you take medications or have a medical condition. Fasting is not recommended for certain people, including children and teens, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, people with type 1 diabetes taking insulin, and those with a history of eating disorders.
โจ Have you ever fasted for spiritual reasons, health reasons, or both? What did the experience teach you? Iโd love to hear your perspective below.
Happy Friday. May today be about less noise, more clarity, and making room for what truly matters. ๐๐ฝ๐ฟ
