Family members, co-workers from The Resource Center and friends from the community came together last weekend to remember Bruce Main.

Bruce, who retired in May after a 33-year career at TRC, passed away this summer following a brief illness. He leaves a legacy of civic engagement both within TRC (he regularly played a big role in our special events) and in the community, where he volunteered his time in a number of ways.

Bruce was an accomplished runner, and he established close friendships with many members of the local running community. To honor Bruce, several of his running friends joined with Bruce’s family to organize a non-competitive run/walk event Saturday.

People gathered at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron. Following some shared reflections about Bruce, people were invited to run or walk down Jones & Gifford Avenue to TRC’s Michael J. Raymond Center, then return to the park.

It was a beautiful day weather-wise, and it was wonderful to see dozens of people come together to honor a person who meant a lot to so many. A number of folks were sporting a shirt designed especially for the event, with the shirt featuring a likeness of Bruce doing something he enjoyed – volunteering at a race.

RIP, Bruce.

ATTENTION, people with I/DD and their families: OPWDD will be holding in-person and virtual presentations on the Coordinated Assessment System (CAS) and Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessments for individuals and families.

The presentations will review the assessment process, share how OPWDD is responding to feedback and explain how assessment information supports person-centered care planning.

It is with deep sadness that we share news of the passing of a longtime member of The Resource Center’s family, Timothy Hudson.

Tim was a valued part of TRC for more than 30 years. During that time, he was employed at our manufacturing facility in Jamestown, lived in our homes, participated in our Day Programs, and took part in our art classes.

On one occasion, one of Tim’s paintings was exhibited at an event in Pennsylvania that celebrated local artists. Tim attended the reception and enjoyed engaging with other artists and observing people admiring his work.

Tim was a sharp dresser, often sporting a coat and tie at events such as the art exhibit and the monthly dances held at The Resource Center.

We are heartbroken to share news of the passing of a longtime member of The Resource Center’s family, Noland Miller.

After spending years in an institutional setting, Noland came to The Resource Center and proceeded to enjoy a quality life. He was with us for more than 30 years, and in that time he built meaningful relationships with peers and support staff.

Noland lived in our homes and attended our day programs, where he enjoyed spending time with friends. He will be deeply missed.
