Trauma Bond: some of you can relate.

A trauma bond is when you want to be comforted by the same person who hurt you. They are the source of your pain, and also the place where you go to escape it.

It's a brutal loop that's incredibly difficult to break: They hurt you. You're left in agonizing pain. Then they swoop in and provide comfort, reassurance, and care-which, after the pain you just experienced, feels euphoric.

Your nervous system then begins to associate that person with relief.

So when you break a trauma bond, you're not just breaking up with a person. You're withdrawing from the best emotional op**te you've ever known.
..But you wouldn't need the high if there wasn't a crash in the first place.
