Time for Tuesday Tip!

🏡 Aging in Place | One Small Change: Accepting Help Early

đź’ˇ Did You Know?
You don’t have to wait for a crisis to accept help. Many seniors benefit from a little extra support with everyday tasks before those tasks become overwhelming or unsafe.

âś… One Small Change:
Accept help early—even if it’s just a few hours a week. Support with things like meal preparation, transportation, light housekeeping, or companionship can make everyday life easier while allowing seniors to remain in control of their routines.

đź’™ Why It Matters:
Accepting help isn't giving up independence—it can actually help preserve it.

One Small Change. A big difference in aging safely at home. đź’™

🏡 Aging in Place | One Small Change: Remove Fall Hazards

đź’ˇ Did You Know?
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, and many happen right at home. The good news is that simple changes around the house can greatly reduce the risk of falls.

âś… One Small Change:
Take a walk through your home and remove common tripping hazards like loose throw rugs, electrical cords across walkways, clutter on the floor, or unstable furniture. Creating clear, open pathways can make moving around the home much safer.

đź’™ Why It Matters:
Preventing falls helps seniors maintain their confidence, independence, and ability to continue living safely at home.

🏡 Aging in Place | One Small Change: Improve Lighting

đź’ˇ Did You Know?
As we age, our eyes need more light to see clearly. Poor lighting can make it harder to spot steps, obstacles, or changes in flooring, increasing the risk of trips and falls—especially in the evening and at night.

âś… One Small Change:
Brighten your home by replacing dim bulbs with brighter LED bulbs, adding nightlights in hallways and bathrooms, and making sure stairways and entryways are well lit. Motion-sensor lights are another great option for nighttime safety.

đź’™ Why It Matters:
Better lighting can help seniors move around their homes with greater confidence, reduce the risk of falls, and make everyday tasks easier and safer.

🏡 Aging in Place | One Small Change: Keep Moving

đź’ˇ Did You Know?
Regular movement is one of the best ways for seniors to maintain strength, balance, and flexibility. Staying active can also help reduce the risk of falls, support heart health, and improve mood and overall well-being.

âś… One Small Change:
Aim for at least 20–30 minutes of movement most days. A walk around the neighborhood, gentle stretching, gardening, or even standing up and moving around the house every hour can make a big difference.

đź’™ Why It Matters:
Keeping your body moving helps you continue doing the everyday things you love with greater confidence and independence.

Introducing our new Tuesday Tip series: Aging in Place | One Small Change!

Every Tuesday, we'll share one practical tip to help seniors stay safe, healthy, and independent at home. Aging in place doesn't have to feel overwhelming—small changes can have a big impact.

Join us each week as we take it one small change at a time. đź’™

Our first Tuesday Tip: Staying hydrated

đź’ˇ Did You Know?
As we age, our sense of thirst decreases, making dehydration more common—especially during the hot summer months. Dehydration can increase the risk of dizziness, confusion, urinary tract infections, and falls.

âś… One Small Change:
Keep a water bottle nearby and make it a habit to take a few sips every hour, rather than waiting until you feel thirsty.

đź’™ Why It Matters:
Staying hydrated supports energy, balance, clear thinking, and overall health, helping seniors remain safe and independent at home.
