6 Years of Chaconia Candles — 6 Lessons Learned
Six years ago, this started as my upbringing in Trinidad and Tobago poured into a jar. Today, I’m celebrating with the 6 biggest lessons this journey has taught me. 🌺
1. Your story is your strategy.
It was never just about candles! It was about culture, traditions, places, memories, and moments that shaped me in the Caribbean. That’s what makes Chaconia, Chaconia.
2. Consistency beats perfection.
The batches, labels, or packaging that weren’t “perfect” still sold. Showing up every single week mattered more than waiting for flawless.
3. Your first “no” isn’t your last “no.”
Every rejected collab, partnership, retailer, vendor table, every quiet market day, failed wholesale partnership, none of it was the end. It was just part of the path.
4. Price for your worth, not your fear.
Undercharging out of fear helps no one, not you, not the business, not the craft. Let me tell you, I still struggle with this one. I want to ensure our candles and home fragrances are accessible especially with this economy, but with rising cost of supplies and shipping, and higher MOQs, I have to ensure we too stay afloat.
5. Community is everything.
I adore the community we’re building together. You all are at the core of what we do, every comment, every share, every person who’s shown up for this brand along the way. Other small makers were never competition, we’re all just building something meaningful, side by side. This journey was never just mine, it’s ours.
6. Trust the process, even when it’s slow.
Growth wasn’t overnight. It was six years of small, steady steps, and every one of them counted, even the failed ones and even when I stumbled.
Thank you for being part of this journey, every light, every order, every share means more than you know. Here’s to the next 6 years and beyond. 🥂
