The Gong Club responds to fires in Jersey City which are 2nd alarms or larger. We also respond to larger fires throughout the county. There are mutual aid agreements with canteen clubs in surrounding counties as well. We have responded to other towns when called. Throughout the year we also assist at several walk a thons and runs, including the March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes and the Carlos Negr

on Run. In the past we have served riders during the Police Unity Tour. We also respond when called out by the JCPD.

The U. S. Navy Seal Foundation held its annual Seal Swim yesterday, involving 180 participants swimming from Liberty Park, around Liberty Island, Ellis Island and then returning to the north end of the park. The participants then ran as a group from Liberty Park across the Jersey Ave. bridge and on to the Hyatt Regency at 2 Exchange Place.

The FDJC and the FDNY set up a decon operation where the swimmers come ashore in the park. D. C. Daly requested Car 26 to operate at the decon station. (Ron Jeffers photos)

Today Car 26 members held the annual wreath laying at the grave of Engineer James McCarthy who death was the 1st in line of duty after the Dept became incorporated. It has since been made a day to honor all the Dept's like of duty losses. This is the Club's 10th year holding this ceremony tho it was started years before by Ira Rubin. Thank you to Chief of Department Jack Johnson and the JCFD for your support. Also to Father Pagnoda for his yearly prayers and Larry Cureton who videos the ceremony as well as taking pictures. Thank you to all who attended!
