Congratulations to Rita Brown, Elizabeth Cole, and the University of South Carolina PA Program – one of TWO 2026 recipients of the Kathy J. Pedersen Grant to Promote Equitable Care! Their project will address gaps in emergency preparedness by increasing access to free, culturally responsive, lifesaving education. Ten training events in trusted spaces will reach areas at higher risk for poor cardiac arrest outcomes, including underserved urban and rural populations and minority communities with higher cardiovascular mortality rates.

Congratulations to Colin Colter and the Wayne State University – one of TWO 2026 recipients of the Kathy J. Pedersen Grant to Promote Equitable Care! His project pairs cultural humility training in the form of journal clubs with community outreach. His goals are to immediately benefit patients through screenings and education and to equip to critically examine the structures that impact health and be ready to respond.
