I’m licensed in quite a few states but just added Pennsylvania. I have a fair number of PA patients that I can do home visits with. Yes, I do home visits! 😊

United Health Care, in their infinite wisdom, now requires a prior authorization for referrals.

Example one: Patient needs to see a gastroenterologist for a screening colonoscopy. I have to get prior authorization.

Example two: Patient has seen the same pulmonologist for years for COPD. Because the last visit to the pulmonologist was over 6 months ago, I have to get prior authorization for the patient to go back.

Insurance companies are getting out of hand. This is just insane.

Update: So I had to go back to the office because there was a pretty significant roof leak (big surprise) onto Tara’s desk yesterday and a contractor was going to meet me there. As I was leaving, I tried to get a hold of Tara to let her know I was going to CVS to pick up her new anti seizure medication. Well, I tried and tried but she didn’t answer. I was getting really concerned thinking she had a seizure. I rushed home to find this. Needless to say, she is fine and had some much needed therapy in her garden. She didn’t take her phone but how can I be upset? This warms my heart ❤️

Day two post op. Dressings just came off. I’m going to get her cleaned up. They say she may go home today. Not so sure. She still feels pretty beat up. Love her soooo much ❤️

My baby after her craniotomy. The pain and nausea have been a challenge. Going for postoperative MRI shortly. I slept in a chair/bed next to her all night.

Tara went into the OR at 7:30 this morning and they just finished. The surgery went very well. The endotracheal tube is out and she is awake. I will get to see her in ICU in about 30 minutes. Thank you all for your prayers 🙏🏻❤️
