If you've been told your estradiol patch isn't in stock, you're not imagining it. We've written up what's actually going on — what changed, what the FDA said on September 3rd, and what a compounding pharmacy can and cannot do about it.
Two things worth knowing up front. The FDA has not declared an official shortage; it says patches remain available, though brand and strength availability varies pharmacy to pharmacy. And we don't make hormone patches of any kind — what we can prepare is a topical cream or oil base for daily application.
Whether that's appropriate for you is a decision for your prescriber. Please don't stop or change your therapy on your own.
