Motivation isn't coming to save you. I know that's not what you want to hear.

But after 20+ years as a dietitian and therapist, I can tell you with certainty: action comes first. Every single time.

Watch this and then tell me if it shifts anything for you.

The two buckets of movement and why 'closing your rings' may not be enough. A conversation I have all too often.

Bucket 1: Activities of daily living. Grocery shopping, going in and out of stores, cleaning the house, cutting the lawn, pulling weeds, walking around at work. Being busy.

Bucket 2: Planned, intentional physical activity that is going to pose a mild challenge to the body. It is going to tell your heart, lungs, muscles and even your bones to do better. Cardio at a moderate to vigorous pace, weight training, fitness classes, etc.

We need BOTH for health. If you are closing your rings because you are busy or have a job where you are on your feet, it does not mean that you exercised for the day.

05/26/2026

I have to be honest with you. This challenge has been harder than I thought โ€” and I am the one who created it.

Three times this week I ate 2-3 hours before bed

* 2 x Before my cycle hit.
* On vacation watching a movie with popcorn. It happened.

But this is the most important thing.....
I kept going.

That is it. That is the whole secret. Not white-knuckling it. Not starting over. Not punishing myself. Just โ€” keep going.

Most people think going off track is the problem. It is not. The spiral after is the problem. The shame, the guilt, the "I already ruined it so why bother." That is what keeps people stuck โ€” not the popcorn.

So if you had a rough holiday weekend, I need you to hear this: dust yourself off. Tonight is a new night.

Five days left in the Lights Out Challenge. Let's finish strong.
Drop a comment and tell me how your weekend went. I want to hear it. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The research on health, happiness, and longevity is pretty consistent.
Time outdoors. Moving your body. Being with people, live and in person.

And summer hands you all three on a platter. The barrier is not access. The barrier is not putting it on the calendar before everything else takes that spot.

You do not need a big budget. A few ideas:
โ€ข Local festival with live music
โ€ข Farm league or semi-pro baseball game (lawn seats here in Joliet run about $10)
โ€ข Drive to a lake, pack a lunch, spend the afternoon at the beach
โ€ข Community walking or running group (your local running store knows where to find them)
โ€ข Lincoln Park Zoo (free)
โ€ข Botanical gardens (many are free or close to it)
โ€ข Free museum days
โ€ข A local 5K with someone you like

Cheers this Memorial Day..if the weather holds up, this is what we will be doing this weekend.

What is one thing you are putting on the calendar this summer? Drop it below.

Summer is officially here.

And if you are anything like me, you already feel it moving fast.

A few years ago I started doing something my friends initially found annoying: I made them bring their calendars to dinner so we could schedule our summer together. The things we actually wanted to do. The people we wanted to see. The moments we did not want to lose to a packed to-do list.

Now everybody does it.

Life will bulldoze your schedule if you let it. Work expands. Obligations pile up. And September arrives before you did any of the things you said you would.

This week, put three things on your calendar. One that moves your body. One that connects you to someone you care about. One you will actually look forward to.
That is not a small thing. That is a health behavior.

It's official - you can now book in New Lenox with myself or Shalyn Lommen

We are thrilled to be able to see clients in person. Telehealth always available.

We are a team of dietitians who help you bridge the gap between knowing and doing. I know you have read all the stuff, have the menus, listen to the podcasts, but how do you find what works for you day in and day out to finally move the needle on your health?

That's where we come in. Covered by most insurance.

Tina - every Wednesday in person
Shalyn - every other Saturday

Honest check-in: I thought not eating 2โ€“3 hours before bed would be easy. ๐Ÿ˜…

I was wrong.

We're 11 days into the Lights Out Challenge and I have had to think through every single event, evening, and craving in a way I never did before.

A wake. A school event. A movie with friends (RIP popcorn). A late-night sweet tooth calling my name.

But here's what I didn't expect: the real insight.

I eat and pick more at night than I *thought* I did. There's a gap between what we believe we're doing and what's actually happening โ€” and it quietly chips away at our health and energy.

That gap? That's exactly what we work on at The Pointe.

Not with willpower. Not with perfection. With awareness, small steps, and a plan that actually fits your real life.

If you've been curious about how nutrition counseling could work for you โ€” covered by most insurance plans, including BCBS and United Healthcare โ€” let's talk. Most of our patients pay $0 out of pocket. 779.379.2755 or www.ProfoundlyImprovingLives.com

Your metabolism has a curfew. โฐ๐ŸŒ™

Your body runs on a 24-hour internal clock called your circadian rhythm. ๐Ÿง โœจ Your digestive system is most efficient earlier in the day โ€” not at 9PM. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

When you eat late, blood sugar spikes when it should be dropping. ๐Ÿ“ˆ Sleep becomes lighter. ๐Ÿ˜ด You wake up foggy. โ˜๏ธ Cravings hit hard the next afternoon. ๐Ÿช

This is exactly why LIGHTS OUT focuses on one thing: stop eating 2โ€“3 hours before bed. ๐Ÿšซ๐ŸŒ™

Not forever. Just for May. ๐Ÿ’ก
In a group, with accountability. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ”ฅ
