💙 Peace of the Heart Kids Camp 💙

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀!!

While registration for Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care’s Peace of the Heart Kids Camp has officially closed, we have a few spots still available for children ages 7 to 13 who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

This special camp provides a supportive environment where children can explore their grief in healthy ways while enjoying arts and crafts, games, music, and other meaningful activities alongside peers who understand.

𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
🗓 June 29 to July 2, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
📍 Nature Center at Pilcher Park
✨ Free of charge and open to all children, regardless of whether their loved one received hospice services from Lightways.

Did you know that Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care provides Grief Support Services to anyone in our community who are in need of services at no charge? Check out our June Grief Support programs.

We understand the unique concerns of those grieving. Our licensed grief counselors provide individual and family counseling. Additionally, we offer a slate of workshops, support groups and special programs aimed at grief education, self-care during intense grief reactions and developing coping skills that assist in working through the grief process.

We’re excited to announce the promotion of Kathy Peterson to Chief Marketing and Development Officer at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care.

Since joining Lightways in November 2023 as Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development, Kathy has made an incredible impact on our organization. From leading our website redesign and marketing campaigns to driving community engagement and continued census growth, her leadership has helped elevate Lightways in meaningful ways.

Kathy brings decades of experience in marketing, business development, and relationship management. Prior to joining Lightways, she held healthcare leadership roles at Presence Health, where she built strong hospital and provider partnerships and helped launch several innovative initiatives, including a comprehensive orthopedic program, a startup OB/GYN practice in Kankakee, and the first RX Mobile program in Kankakee County in partnership with Northern Illinois Food Bank.

In her new role, Kathy will continue overseeing our business development, marketing, and events teams while also leading philanthropy and volunteer services, further strengthening the connection between our mission, our community, and the people we serve.
