Some came home with wounds we can't see.
Today we honor the service members and veterans who gave everything for this country. Many came home carrying pain we can't see — physical, mental, and chemical.
The numbers tell the story:
• Nearly **half (46%) of combat-wounded veterans** report misusing prescription opioids in the past year.
• **Up to 60%** of veterans with PTSD also live with a substance use disorder.
• Only about **1 in 3 veterans** treated for opioid use disorder at the VA receives the medication that works best.
That gap is where lives are lost — and it's where community clinics like ours step in. Methadone treatment is proven to cut overdose death roughly in half. It works for veterans. It works for service members. It works for their families.
