Nevus Outreach's goal is to bring awareness about nevi to the rest of the world and to let others know that they are not alone.

Nevus Outreach is dedicated to driving awareness, fostering a supportive community, and advancing research for people affected by congenital melanocytic nevi and related conditions. Nevus Outreach is dedicated to providing answers and support for families and individuals affected by Congenital Melanocytic Nevi (CMN) and related disorders such as Neurocutaneous Melanocytosis (NCM). Lilly is Made to be Passionate.
When Lilly was born, her family was told, “Wow! She has a pretty big birthmark.” What followed were questions about what her CMN might mean for her future and how it could affect her as she grows.
Over the last few months, her family has been learning all they can about CMN and NCM so they can advocate for the best care for their girl. They’re so thankful to have found Nevus Outreach to help them navigate this new world.
Most of all, they want Lilly to grow up confident in her skin, knowing she is loved, supported, and that her family will always advocate for her. 💙

Ciera is Made to be Understanding.
Ciera was born with a giant bathing-trunk congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN), hundreds—if not thousands—of satellite nevi, and neurocutaneous melanocytosis (NCM). Over the years, she has shared her story through interviews and was even featured in J-14 magazine.
Growing up, Ciera didn’t always find it easy to feel different. But in high school, she made the decision to embrace her appearance and use her experience to help others embrace what makes them unique, too.
Today, Ciera is passionate about raising awareness because she knows what it feels like to feel alone. She wants others affected by CMN to know that there is a community that understands, supports, and walks alongside them.
Awareness is education. Understanding creates connection. And no one should have to feel alone. 💙

A Lifetime of Care. A Legacy of Impact. 💙
This October, Light the Night Chicago will include a very special celebration.
Nevus Outreach is proud to honor Bruce S. Bauer, M.D., FACS, FAAP, with our Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing nearly five decades dedicated to pediatric plastic surgery and an extraordinary commitment to individuals with congenital melanocytic nevi.
Dr. Bauer began his career in Chicago in 1979. Since then, his work has touched generations of patients and families, advanced surgical approaches to nevus care, educated physicians, and helped build a path for the next generation of care.
For so many in our community, his impact is also deeply personal.
He has been the surgeon who cared for their child. The physician who helped them understand the road ahead. And a trusted presence through years of decisions, surgeries, and milestones.
On October 3, we get to be in the room and say thank you.

💙 Weston is Made to be Informative.
When Weston was born prematurely, his NICU nurses taught his family about CMN and NCM—knowledge that helped them discover a manifestation in his cerebellum early and connect with the medical care he needed.
Three years, three sedated MRIs, and three surgeries later, Weston is healthy, happy, and living his best life. He’s his big sister’s sidekick by day and Spiderman by night. 🕷️
Weston’s family is passionate about sharing knowledge because they know firsthand how powerful information, medical care, and community can be during a time filled with unknowns.
