We’ve been home from our 3-month roadschool adventure for a few weeks now, and the same questions keep coming up:
“Were you working the whole time?”
“Is money still coming in?”
“How are you actually doing this?”
So let’s clear one thing up 😅
It’s not from book sales.
(I’ve sold about 20 copies—so no, it’s definitely not that.)
The real answer is simple:
We planned.
We saved.
We invested.
We lived below our means even when it would’ve been easy not to.
For years, I chose economy flights to Sweden instead of first class. I never paid interest on my credit cards—I'd either balance-transfer to zero or pay them off. It wasn’t glamorous, but it created freedom.
Right now, I’m not working a traditional job by choice. We’re living on savings we intentionally moved into cash, plus income from investments and building projects behind the scenes. Some months feel easy, some feel stretched—but all of it is intentional.
And even with all that… we still had to LEAP.
Because money doesn’t make you brave.
Clarity does.
Getting radically honest about what I actually wanted—that’s what cracked things open. That’s when trust stepped in. That’s how this season became possible.
This week, a friend said something that stopped me:
“I want to do this with my family…”
Then she paused, corrected herself, and said—
“I am going to do it.”
That’s why I share.
Not to teach a formula.
Not to compare.
But to remind you that the shift from wanting to deciding is where everything changes.
I don’t mind talking about money—just remember the number looks different for every family. Sometimes the bigger wake-up call is realizing how much it costs to fund the life you already have.
Freedom isn’t one number.
It’s alignment.
So if something stirred in you…
If you felt that quiet, “maybe I could, too”…
You don’t need my numbers.
You need your next brave decision. 💛
PS- I’m adding a few photos from the past couple weeks, too—because sometimes the little moments tell the story better than I ever could.
