Happy World Physical Therapy Day! Today we’re celebrating the work physical therapists do every day to help people move better, feel stronger and get back to doing what they love.
For Therapeutic Associates of Maui founder Lee Poston, that work has been a lifelong pursuit. He first came to Maui as a traveling physical therapist on a three-month contract in 1997 — and simply never left.
A few years later, he discovered Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), also known as the McKenzie Method, and it completely changed the way he approached physical therapy. His dedication to MDT eventually took him from Arizona to New Zealand to Brazil, where he became a McKenzie Diplomat in 2009. Today, he remains the only McKenzie Diplomat in Hawaiʻi. We're proud to say Therapeutic Associates of Maui has now been serving the Valley Isle for more than 30 years!!
Just as important to Lee is passing that knowledge along. Through Therapeutic Associates of Maui, he regularly trains physical therapy students, helping prepare the next generation of PTs to better understand movement, pain and recovery.
Here’s to the physical therapists who keep learning, keep teaching and keep helping their patients move forward.
