Aloha,
Policy change for now. I will only see clients who are fully vaccinated for Covid-19 since we now are seeing the numbers continue to rise with community spread here on Kauai.
I follow the safety protocols set by CDC and state of Hawaii.
Masks are worn during session, temperatures are taken and I space out my sessions to have time for the treatment room to air out and be cleaned and sterilized.

For those who are not vaccinated, I’m available via zoom.

Please, stay safe. Wear your mask, social distance and wash your hands.

Update, New info, I cannot reopen yet. Only MT’s working in a health care facility that can treat Covid are allowed to work. Independent contractors like myself cannot resume yet.
I have purchased the necessary gear for when I’m allowed to reopen.

May 7th Governor Ige has allowed Medical Massage Therapists to resume working.
I am a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association and they have been providing guidelines for our profession to insure safety for our clients and therapists.
I’m also following CDC guidelines.
I will be screening every client before they enter my office, including scanning temperature. I will require clients to wear a mask and wash their hands when they enter my office,
My treatment room and entrance will be sterilized after every session and I will be spacing out the appointments.
Kauai has been doing great with no new cases, I will exercise the utmost caution with my commitment to the ethics and professional integrity and standards.
I’m excited to be able to return to my practice and to see my clients again. Stay safe, stay home and wear a mask!

A feel good story.
I had a E.R. Doctor refer a patient to me. The patient went to E.R. Because she was in terrible pain and nothing was working that she had tried. Massage, yoga, traditional physical therapy.
I meet with the client, her complaint chronic sciatica and low back pain and a frozen shoulder. She is passionate about her work but since she is hurting in her body for over a year, she is thinking she has to give up her dream job and felt like her life was over. She was crying about it. She was ready to let go of her passion and dreams.
I looked at her, assured her this was all locked up fascia and said this was all fixable and she doesn’t need to give up on her dream.

I explained Fascia and what Myofascial Release Treatment is all about. She attended my stretching class and had four sessions with me.

By the fourth session, she tells me that she is getting ready to move forward with signing a lease and launch her new business. I looked at her and said, a month ago you thought your life was over and now look at you. She had tears, she was grateful she had been referred to me and grateful for the bodywork and everything I thought her about fascia and self care.

She is returned to a balanced body, no more pain and is really happy. I’m grateful the E.R. Doctor referred her patient to me.

I’ll use my page to post stories and share about books, information I feel relevant to health and wellness.

I’m now teaching Myofascial Release Stretching with balls in two locations:

Wednesday’s 10:45-11:45 Hoóla Fitness located in Lihue

Saturday mornings :7:30-9:00
My studio in Kalaheo.

It’s very simple and very effective.
I thought a class in Honolulu and a 16 year old male track star was stunned that in 15 minutes he gained more flexibility than he has had for eight years in his body.
The key, I teach you about the fascia in your body.

Great info about fascia.

Great info about fascia.

What is Fascia?
Fascia is tough connective tissue that creates a 3-dimensional web extending without interruption from head to toe. Fascia surrounds and infuses every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, and organ, all the way down to the cellular level.

The fascial system affects every system and function in your body- musculoskeletal, neurological, metabolic, etc. The white, glistening fibers you see when you pull a piece of meat apart or when you pull chicken skin away is fascia.

What is Fascia made of ?
Fascia consists of a complex which has three parts:
1. Elastin fibers - This is the elastic and stretchable part of the complex.

2. Collagen fibers - These fibers are extremely tough and give support to the
structure.

3. Ground substance/matrix: A gelatinous like substance that transports metabolic
material throughout the body

What does fascia do?
The fascial system generally supports, stabilizes, and cushions. Fascia creates separation between vessels, organs, bones, and muscles. It creates space through which delicate nerves, blood vessels, and fluids can pass.

What are Fascial Restrictions?
In a healthy state, the collagen fibers wrap around the elastic fibers in a relaxed, wavy configuration. Trauma, repetitive motion, inflammation, or poor posture can cause the fascia to become solidified and shortened. These thickened areas are referred to as a fascial restriction. Fascial restrictions have the capacity of creating up to 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch in a restricted area. That crushing pressure can compromise any physiological system in the body resulting in pain and dysfunction.

The fascia throughout the body is all interconnected like the yarn in a sweater or a complex spider web. A restriction in one area of the body creates tension throughout this web pulling on other distant structures. This explains why some people may have pain that appears unrelated to their original injury. Furthermore, myofascial restrictions do not show up on common standardized tests such as x-rays, MRI, CAT scans, etc.

Fascial restrictions can pull the body out of its normal alignment, compressing joint surfaces and bulging disks, resulting in pain, loss of motion, and weakness.
