MD Class of 2030 students beat the 80°+ heat during their Medical First Responder Capstone at the Sim City Fire Training Center!

With the help of local first responders and the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine Simulation Center, students took on hands-on challenges like building rescues, vehicle extrication, and more. Just like the firefighter equipment they used, these skills will stick with them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in getting out into the Southwest Michigan community this summer. We’ve loved connecting with you and can’t wait for you to see what we have planned for next year!

Our human simulators may be named after the Marvel cast, but the real heroes are our first responder trainers, standardized patients, and the Simulation Center team!

Over the next two weeks of intensive training, this incredible team is working hard to prepare our first-year medical students to become certified Medical First Responders. We’re so grateful that Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine People & Culture got to be a part of it!

Thank you to everyone who joined the Culture and Wellbeing team during our Coffee & Chat Pop-Up Tour! It was so meaningful to visit our different campuses, connect with our teams, and learn more about their experiences.

While this photo is from Crosstown, we appreciate everyone we connected with at Battle Creek, Psychiatry, and Oakland. We were a little too busy talking to take photos!

This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to keep getting out, connecting, and learning more about the people who make WMed who we are.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine Medical students and employees spent the evening exploring downtown Kalamazoo, supporting local businesses, enjoying Art Hop, and sampling some unforgettable Rocket Fizz soda flavors (mustard, grass, and dirt included 😂).
