The Wong-Baker FACES® Pain Rating Scale was created in 1983 by Pediatric Nurse Consultant Donna Wong and Child Life Specialist Connie Baker to help young children communicate the intensity of their pain.

Like at Helping Hands Wellness Center, you’ll find this pain assessment scale used in most healthcare settings because it allows folks who are nonverbal or whose primary language may not be English to also communicate the intensity of their pain without the use of words.

Meet our Executive Director, Katherine! 👋🏾

Katherine has been a transformational leader here at Helping Hands Wellness Center since last November. Since her arrival, she’s been working hard to elevate the organization's visibility and has been invested in building a strong foundation of organized, functional support for her staff. She leads with confidence, clarity, and purpose in a way that is intentional, people-centered, and sustainable.

As a leader who guides by example, you can find Katherine both in her office and out in our community at events sharing about Helping Hands with others.
